i have the cosmic drive too and it didnt work so i made the patch for it
choose the only iso dont have to extract anything

Heads up peoples. I'm working on Item Descriptions right now. Next time I release a patch I'll release a version for both games. Probably as separate patches like we've got going on right now. Until I can figure out a better way to patch the game (Like we had before, but NOOO we can't use that cause it's easy.)

Maybe making a patch for the C01.cpk can work for both games

Nope. Creating a CPK only patch still resulted in it being 300MB. I'm not sure how you're making yours so small Max. I'm using the DeltaPatcher that you linked me.

Also if you want to help out with Story Translation that'd be cool too. If you do want to help the only requirement is basic knowledge on how to use a Hex Editor like MadEdit. Pretty easy to pick up and learn if you want to give it a shot.

NOTE: This version includes all the Blueprints, all the Weapons, and a few other things. The Custom Character skills is still broken and I'm looking into it. Use an UNPATCHED version if you want to make a custom character.

I am going to have a try at MadEdit but I do not know what settings to use. Could you explain to me what settings you use (like text encoding, etc)?

Under the encoding switch it to Shift-JIS (Windows Japanese). That's about all you really need to know besides that you cannot go over the start of the next line (I.E. a line ends with 00 you CANNOT write over that 00)

well its actualy a little smaller but on the 7zip i choose on compresion ultra
if anything in the delta patcher i choose compression 9

CrashmanX, you should be uploading the patch itself that's created, not the patched file.

Maxtram did it correctly at the top of page 2, where the patch file is ~1.3MB, and as he said, when he applied the patch to the original game file it turned it into the patched version.
Check the god dang files Rydian. They are patches. NOT PATCHED FILES. I used xDelta just as you said and that's what it gave me. Following different suggestions and tutorials that's the file it gave me. A 300MB Patch. I'm sorry there's a lot of changes to the file.
Now if YOU want to buy the game and make patches for me, go right a head.
I'm going to continue doing things with xDelta until you can tell me the exact process to make a 5MB patch.

2 - Rename it to something short, like xdelta.exe, to make things easier.
3 - Hold SHIFT and right-click in the folder, and choose "open command window here".
4 - xdelta.exe -e -s original.file hacked.file patch.filename
So for example if I wanted to make a patch to turn yoshi.nes into the yoshi_hack.nes file, I'd do...
xdelta.exe -e -s yoshi.nes yoshi_hack.nes yoshi_hack

You could just find a GUI for xdelta though.

Hi. Yea. Already tried both of those options. Resulted in a 300MB patch.
Currently using the DeltaPatcher.EXE from RomHacking.net
Still get a 300MB patch.

Are you patching the full ISO or that data file?

Tried both ways. Still got 300MB files.
Though I'm curious as to why you're so dead set on me making this smaller when you're not even playing the game or wanting to help with the translation nor is it hurting anyone or anything.

I don't have a copy of the game, so you might be better off asking Maxtram how he did it, as I don't have the example files for this specific translation.

I don't have a copy of the game, so you might be better off asking Maxtram how he did it, as I don't have the example files for this specific translation.

SHOCK AND HORROR! All Translation patches contain a portion of the game data! Modified or not it's still a portion of the game data which is useless without the full game.

Also I see no where in the rules where it states that your patches CANNOT be X size or that they cannot contain X amount of Game data. It does mention that you CANNOT redistribute the game or links to the, neither of which I am doing.
And Back seat moderating (What you're doing) is again, highly frowned upon.

EDIT: Also it only contains the changes. The actual file is 400+MB.
2nd EDIT: Also the Modified file is smaller than the original resulting in xDelta seeing this as "Difference" and putting it in the patch along with any other changed parts.

Ehhh... Guess I gotta trying patching the game myself and see what happens.

If Rydian's right, all the files will be removed until a correct and legit patch will be out.

If the method doesn't work, the files stay.

It's going to take a while to get the game, so the patch stays until I can try for myself.
