Hi,

Was just wondering: Can I convert my Tales of Symphonia PS3 Save Game to use with the Steam Version?

I have a rather old PS3 save game for this game on my console and recently got the steam version of the game.
Would love to keep playing from my old save rather than starting new or downloading another save for PC.

Thanks for the idea, as far as I can tell this will not work with Tales of Symphonia sadly.
Decrypting the save leaves me with a different file ending completely. The Steam version uses .dat files, while the PS3 after decrypting leaves me with a .bin save. Simply renaming it doesn't do the trick as it crashes the game on load.

Probably wouldn't work but I guess you could try a .bin to .dat converter? I'm guessing the save won't be the same size though but I have no other ideas.

most of the time saves are compatible, just with added security. you may need to decrypt that save, because .bin with sony means it's encrypted; .dat means otherwise.

I did decrypt the save from my PS3 console, I was able to import it into RPCS3 and use it, which confirms the files are decrypted. But it still is in .bin format.
