nintendo stop selling products here since 2012.they are so expensive new 3ds xl is like $400

there was a time ( 2014 ) where they banned all new Nintendo games from coming because of a hoax that video games are bad
so they set new tax on the first distributor and raised the price per game,so he didn't offered to pay for all that so he left the market,and new distributor comes and every 3DS game are now $53
we still use NA region consoles for nintendo products.

before distributor quit.3ds (there was only the original one, not XL) had a big price cut down to 66 dollars
