Can I attach my hdd to a friend's unflashed 360, purchase a game on xbl, then take my hdd home and enjoy playing on my flashed console?

I'd like a flashed 360, but I need street fighter remix

I don't believe that you would be able to do that.

When you download an Arcade game it is attached to both your Console and your LIVE Gamertag, if you download a game with your Gamertag on your mates 360 then take home to your 360 you would need to be signed into XboxLIVE with your Gamertag in order to boot the game.

In summary downloading content on unflashed 360 and taking to a banned 360 that cannot connect to LIVE won't work. (At least this is what I have read, haven't bothered testing with my 360's)

It's not a banned console. It's never even been online. Would that make any difference?

It's not the banned issue that is the problem, you need your Gamertag signed into XboxLIVE in order to use content that was downloaded on another Xbox.

As for the chips I would be careful, I haven't read up on them but I wouldn't be surprised if those xbox's are banned from LIVE as well.

Will I need to be connected to xbl every time I want to play SF Remix or just the first time I try to run it from my flashed console?

btw- apparantly m$ are banning consoles with modchips, which seems to be pissing a few people off coz the chip in question (nme-360) is supposed to be undetectable when switched off.

**edit** may be linked to people running non-stealth backups online

The issue is people don't yet understand what microsoft are detecting in order to ban.

People are speculating that any change at all to logs within your system may be the cause of the bans, and a modchipped system would have impacts on its logs even if it was disabled when connected to live.

Bearing in mind that the flashed 360 will be an XBL virgin, would I have time to connect/purchase/download/install SF Remix or would I get hit with a ban immediately?

It seems pretty obvious that it's something to do with the Halo 3 beta, given the timing of the bans (doesn't take a rocket scientist to work that one out does it?)

**edit** not that the hardcore wouldn't have already guessed this

I can't guarantee that if you flash your Xbox you will be able to connect to LIVE in the first place, but feel free to check around. The fact of the matter is though if you connect a modded Xbox to LIVE then you will with 95% confidence be banned.
You may get time to download Street Fighter though, but then you would be stuffed getting anything else from LIVE.

The Halo3 beta had zero to do with Xbox's being banned, I myself never went near the beta and my flashed Xbox was banned from LIVE.

your gonna wanna flash the core... use the premium for the online.

you'll need the HDD for demo's, xbla, beta's, additional content... ect.
the core you'll still need a memory card for your save games..
