if they're bigger, you might be able to shave off the hole for the analog sticks. I haven't opened a 360 controller in a very long time, but as I remember it, the analog sticks are attached to a mechanism inside with the hole being smaller than the base, but then it gets wider near the opening where the analog sticks come out of the shell (if that makes sense). I don't think the whole is just a circle, so there's probably room for it. I also like the 360 controller. ergonomically it's perfect. my only complaint is the dpad which is easily one of the worst I've ever seen. the adjustable dpad is a pos. I can't tell you how many times I've had to replace that because it started cracking.
from the video i saw guy only used some filling, no shavving, but i will take it into account, as for the dpad situation, yeah, its pretty bad, but i have a ds4 for dpad intensive games
For real. The 360 controller is close to my favorite of all time, and it would be if the D-pad wasn't so useless. Instead, the OG Xbox's Duke controller takes the cake. I've got three of them I bust out for when my roommates and I play Halo 2.
But, to stay on topic, you might actually be better off simply sticking some thumbstick covers or coating the sticks in a little plastidip or something similar, considering it looks like a LOT of work.
i dont personally have a favorite controller i can play every game with and like it, i generally stick to xbox 360 for games were primary inputs are LS, triggers and face buttons, such as racing games, and dualshock 4 for games were primary inputs are dpad, triggers and face buttons, such as platformers, if i were to have an ideal controller, it would be like the n64 controller but with 4 prongs instead of 3, the new one being a new analog stick, triggers on all prongs, not just the middle one, better analog sticks, and only 4 face buttons, as for the topic, yeah i might just get some cover grips
my favorite controller is probably the wii u pro controller.
I've opened up my 360 controllers many times to repair them. I don't like the bottom two torx security screws, because the head of my screwdriver can't fit into the hole. I think I used a flathead on those, then replaced the screws with phillips or flathead. also, the adjustable dpad on the 360 controller is a pos. I've gone from the standard silver, to gold, to blue, and now to red. I've had the same problem with all of them, including the one that came from the factory: cracking. it's like rotating your tires I guess where overused directions causes damage. I remember when major nelson revealed the adjustable dpad. I think I bought it soon after to see that it was garbage.
its pretty obvious they knew they hit it close to perfect with the 360 controller when solutions to its two biggest flaws (dpad and grip) and minor flaws (not being able to tell which button is which on special editions due to some games using color instead of letters, face buttons and triggers being a bit too small) are the only things the one's differs from
