Unpatched Switch Not Going Into Recovery Mode

Out of interest is that true for all patched switches? I've never been able to find a definitive answer.

There's lots of posts on various sites referencing patched switches being in rcm mode for one reason or another, but then there seems to be lots of people that say patches switches cannot enter rcm.

Yes patched unit can enter rcm mode, but can't inject payload.

any switch can enter rcm, it's an intentional feature

Presumably Nintendo have a legitimate use for it when repairing them. Thats what I thought when I first heard about rcm anyway, but then so many people say patched switches can't enter rcm I wasn't sure.

The complete lack of response from me asking for them to go into the system settings and check the serial and then others asking the same leads me to believe that it's a refurbished switch of somesort OR

They realized they were using the jig wrong and it's now working and they just don't feel the need to update us.
