Homebrew unable to launch fbi

so im helping my girlfriend hack her new 3ds xl. she previously had a 3ds with cfw installed, and she tried to transfer the system to the new console. i am now trying to install cfw again on the new 3ds, however i have come across an issue: i cannot install luma and fbi will not open

clearly homebrew is able to launch through pokemon picross, so im not sure what the issue is?

Has cfw ever been installed on that console? The missing kernel suggests it hasnt and you are just running a userland entry instead of full cfw.

Has cfw ever been installed on that console? The missing kernel suggests it hasnt and you are just running a userland entry instead of full cfw.

in the previous console there was cfw installed, which went through the system transfer process to the new 3ds

im not sure youre understanding. the console did not go through a system transfer in order to install cfw.

First, I would say that your going to want to start over again. Start from JUST https://3ds.hacks.guide/get-started to get this going. As it sounds like cfw was not installed.
