Apple Transfer SHSH files from another iPhone/iPod Touch?

My dad messed up with his iPhone 3GS and updated to 4.0 and now he can't downgrade. He has a MC model. Can we use another SHSH file to downgrade to or does he have to wait for a new jailbreak?

Unfortunately, SHSH files are unique to every device. If it were as simple as taking another person's SHSH, there would never be any issue concerning jailbreaking. You have to wait for a new jailbreak to arrive. Rumor has it that Comex will release one soon.

jailbreakme.com should work with your device now as long as your version number is not above 4.0.1

Aren't Apple still signing 4.0.1 downgrades? So you can find your restore file, download it, shift click restore in iTunes and have it go back to a jailbreakable stage.
