Best platforming game ever? Well, it's a great platforming game but it'll never reach that high as to be considered the best. Between Mario 3D World and Rayman Legends regardless of being 2D Vs. 3D, I'll vouch for Mario 3D World simply due to being the better platforming game of the two.

Nice upgrade.

The only reason why I bought this for the Wii U was because of how it's the "definitive" edition and that Rayman has Mario's costume (which is what I use all the time).

i bet you didn't know about the no loading times on the ps4 version, the ps4 version also has high res stages too, look it up.

I can agree on the 8-bit stages. They were clearly meant as an extra challenge after the main quest (they're all remixes of the rhythm stages earlier in the game), but it wasn't as fun as the other ones.

But for everything else, I'd say you're just nitpicking. The Murphy-stages take some getting used to, but after some practice, I found the daily challenges with Murphy to be more fun than the other ones*. And "the map is better in Origins" is a pretty weak gripe as well. No...as far as I'm concerned, the game gets all the praise reviewers give it. The only shitstain is that it got delayed for a retarded reason (but this has been covered many times over).

*haven't played it on any other platform than the wiiu, so I can't compare

I saw the Wii U Vs. PS4 graphical comparison on YouTube from Digital Foundry though I couldn't see much difference due to the crappy YouTube compression, I'll just download the raw video and see how much better it is.

The reviewers left that part out either because they didn't finish the game before knowing the game at its fullest, also, if you have a 360/PS3 then download the demo and you'll see how much better it is controlling Murphy (no more stylus pen bs) and no need to move the GamePad up, down, left or right.. simply press LB.

What I didn't like about the 360 demo was that the graphics didn't seem to look as good as they do on the Wii U version (still pretty good though) and the audio quality was OK but not great.

Rayman Legends is definitely better on 360/PS3/PS4/XO than Wii U / Vita regardless of audio/graphics' differences.

I have one question to you all who have played Legends and I want your honest opinion. So far googling for an answer has brought up very mixed views.

Is Legends better than Origins? As a whole, not just level design / graphics / music / minigames / etc. Which would you pick up right now if you had the choice fully knowing what both games are like.

Since most of the Origins levels are on Legends anyway, plus the always wonderful rhythm levels (ALWAYS worth a replay!), it has to be Legends... However, in xx years time when I'm talking about 'the good old games' to my grandkids (or something), I'll mention Origins before Legends.... so there ya go, that was no use to you whatsoever was it

Multiplayer? In terms of online play it has the Challenges but never really made me interested in playing it.

I finished Legends today and I tried going back to Mario Kart 8 but I was already worn off so I just lasted 5mins before placing the disc again on the box.

On the Living Dead Party world they've included stages with filters to make it hard, which sometimes it can be fun but seeing how the filters they used on it just made it obnoxious and absolutely annoying because you literally become incapable of seeing what the fuck you're doing or should be attacking.
This is NOT "8bits" it's barely visible, fuck, it'd be more accurate to say "2bits" to "no bits".

I thought that was the idea of those stages? You was meant to play off the sound of the music/rhythm to play with your ears rather than your eyes

The only thing I don't agree with is the Murphy stages since those are meant for 2 player on the Wii U and play the best with a friend. Even the challenge stages feel better with another person. It was made with Nintendo in mind by bringing people together rather than saying most people don't have friends that want to sit with them (next to the couch) and play games.

The music did help puzzling some bits but to dodge death you'd need to be conscious about what you're facing next.

I read comments about how the Mariachi Madness 8bits' stage is even worse on the Vita (not a surprise seeing that it's a much smaller screen).

Rayman Legends is one of the best platformers ever made in my opinion. It's also exactly how it should be in terms of difficulty. It's not overly difficult to finish the story, but it's a bastard to fully complete (think I just need the million lums now for the platinum on PS4).

For me, this falls behind only a handful of games in terms of best platformers ever. Those being Mario 64, Jak And Daxter, and Mario Galaxy 1 and 2. Very good company to be in!

As a avid rhythm games player I must say, almost every "8-bit" stages on Rayman Legends are easy to do a 100% run if you get the rhythm, except Mariachi Madness, some bits of the stage seem "off beat" because it's the stage where you need to make a lot of transitions between 2 different actions, on the others the game let you finish one action before doing a transition to another.

I've felt that the WiiU version was the best, even over the PS4 with it's no loading optimization. I did find some fun on using Murphy with the stylus, however I didn't try to play them with another player.

And I can testify, the vita version is the worst of them all, with it's clunky version of accelerometer gimmicks (and I've tested playing Gravity Rush to see if it wasn't my Vita acting up). It wasn't properly optimized to it.

I am a newbie to Nintendo switch, and yup new at Rayman. This is to say I have followed Unisoft with their excellent range of games. I have acquire Rayman legends switch, awaiting delivery and can't wait to insert in my lite. After watching gameplay on 3 raymans, seeing diverse amount of comments on Rayman on various forums, has me so looking forward to playing a platformer again. Armed with text description of game and YouTube walkthrough on where to find the teensies(tweensies),with patience and the need to start-finish the game.
I want to say thanks Ubisoft for creating Rayman. I adore your game sports party, switch.

I bought rayman legends definitive edition quite a while ago on the switch as well as the original on the wii u. I never really got to play it on the wii u, but I've played it on the switch. I'd say it's good, but definitely not as good as say Mario and DKC. it's definitely better than yooka laylee and the impossible lair though. I found that game to be bland and somewhat uninteresting compared to the first game, which I loved. anyway, rayman legends -- I haven't gotten that far into the game, but some of it can be frustrating definitely. I forgot the name of the little creatures you collect, but there's like over 800 in the game according to the menus iirc, so the game could be quite long. the game is sorta forgiving though, because the checkpoints are plentiful.

Rayman Legends on Wii U would be better if you had the option to either use the touch screen or a dedicated button to control Murphy like literally every other versions.

I am very much in agreement on the gameplay, it is certainly superior to Origins, and in any case also the game itself is very full of things to do even after "finished" the game for those who always like to reach 100% like me (like taking all 700 damn teens)...
or having to replay ALL THE ORIGINS LEVELS FOR ALL THE CUPS ... yes, in short, in rayman legends you collect stuff.

PS:yes, after you get used to it the 8-bit levels become relaxing ... especially when the screen goes dark for a few seconds without letting you see anything
