So, I recently got this jig from ebay, but everytime I try to use it the switch boots normally, nintendo logo and all.
To Clarify, I'm:
1. Turning the Switch Off.
2. Putting the jig securely in the RIGHT Joy-Con's slider.
3. Holding Volume Up and Power to turn it on.
The Joy-Cons get read normally, so is it the jig? Thanks!

It's not "+", it is "Volume Up" that needs to be held.

I'm done sticking random pieces of metal in my Switch and risking damage to the pins.

You don't need a jig, I couldn't believe how easy it was until I did it. Just take a paperclip and unbend it. One end needs to touch pin 10, the other end can touch anywhere along the rail and it will be grounded! Now try to hold it in place while pressing Vol Up and tapping power. If you don't get the Nintendo logo, you've done it.

I went ahead and setup AutoRCM on mine, it was easy enough to get into RCM mode but I really didn't want to risk damaging my pins worse than I probably already have.

Alternatively, tear apart a joycon and solder the pads.

Make sure you get from someone who has at least tested their jigs so that they actually work; check reviews......there are always circumstances that things might go wrong. The jig I ordered was claimed by the creator to have been tested on a Switch for all their orders. When I tried mine, it would not fit at all beneath the pins.....I contacted the creator and he claimed that the wires are only supposed to touch the pins and not actually go into the joypad housing like you would originally believe......obviously this was completely wrong! So I ended up having to shave part of the plastic off with an X-Acto knife in order for it to fit properly and it finally worked.

Sounds exactly like the seller I bought mine from, was it Ebay by any chance? Not only that our jigs are descriptive the same as well there's excessive plastic on the bottom making the entire jig nothing more but a heap of plastic. We shouldn't have to re create something we paid for just a bad jig maker. I bought the jig mainly b/c I don't have the tools to make one or the craftsmanship to bend paperclips and sure as hell not gonna sacrifice a joy con to use its wire. Screwdriver works just fine till I get TX Pro kit which comes with a jig

Funnily enough, that also sounds a lot like mine.

So, where exactly should I cut it?

Yup it was from Ebay. It was an all black jig. I had to shave a pretty consistent strip of plastic from the bottom of the jig in order for it to fit.

Slice it long ways on the "flat" side.....basically the side that is touching the Switch (the side opposite the wire). From the image below, slice along the "red" line to remove the bottom part.
