Switch Online Status on Incognito Atmosphere

Quick question...I'm running a clean NAND (for NSO) and a EMUNAND for my other games. On the EMUNAND, I have incognito'd and zero'd my switch serial number. When I boot up the console though, it says I'm online and what my friends are playing. Because I do not have an official switch serial number, am I still at risk for a ban? Not sure how my online and friend status can be shown when I do not have an applicable serial ID to get online unless that part of the online experience is not linked with NSO?

TLDR: Serial is XAW000000~ but enabling wifi shows my online status and friends online. How is this possible?

Yeah, that doesn’t sound good. Not sure how the friends piece works internally, but it appears the service is able to associate you and your friends somehow and I have to believe that could also be used to “triangulate” more of your identity.

E: side note, exosphere does a similar thing to Incognito without the risk of you losing your backups and inadvertently perma-banning yourself by not being able to reverse the process.

The example they give provides no protection. They describe the changes you need to make to turn on the protection inside the config. It’s a little bit less straightforward than the link I posted above (which does the same thing by just copy pasting the working config into the correct files.)

Iirc some guide I read says incognito/exosphere serial blanking is not 100% safe, so it's recommended to use it with dns mitm. Or just use dns mitm alone.

I think I'm going to fully turn off internet on EMUNAND. The only reason I had it was to use TinFoil downloads...now that all sources don't work anymore or require real money, there's no need for wifi

Afaik there are still two shops working rn, but they do require you to join their discord servers and request a key to access.

If you're still seeing the status of your friends on emunand after you applied incognito then it might have been incorrectly applied.
You should have no details at all from any nintendo related connection and receive errors instead when even attempting to see a page that connects to nintendo servers.

I ran incognito when it was released years ago and I've been safe to connect to the internet and I have never been banned, also updating through versions without issues.
But I heard someone saying incognito does not work properly when trying to apply it to newer versions so that might be the problem.

You should be safe by enabling exosphere, which is the modern version of incognito (and allegedly safer, but I can't vouch for that as I can vouch for incognito).

However, if you installed nsps with an incorrect incognito installation your console might be flagged for a ban eventually as the nand is already dirty.
