I don't have a modded Wii U. I would like to use the save file that has all the costumes for my son. How do I go about doing that?

Use saviine. You just have to use a browser exploit which means going to a website in the wiiu browser. Saves on the wiiu aren't encrypted either, so it'll be copy and paste basically.
