Will never happen. And N64 Will never be any better than the crappy PSP dx64 emulator.. So skip that. The PSVITA Will however handle N64 and most likely dreamcast

Very nice concept, but I think finding an exploit for newer firmwares should be the no.1 priority.
Homebrew is nice, but honestly not worth buying a new 3DS XL for.

They'll find something eventually, but it's hard as hell. Eventually the lack of a userbase (people on <4.5) will deminish, and kill off homebrew if a new exploit isn't discovered.

...Not for a very long time, though.

I wouldn't hold my breath for that. If you want to homebrew/pirate at all, get a 4.5 3ds, otherwise there is a chance that the same thing that happened to the Ps3 can happen to the 3ds (No publicly released exploit yet).

Not even today there's an exploit which works on PS3 models manufactured after March 2011 (coming from factory with firmware 3.56+).
Basically, 3DS FW v4.5 = PS3 FW v3.55
(excluding ODEs which work on any PS3 model, but I don't see 3DS getting modchips either).

Oh ok, i misunderstand your wording. Yeah I think the PS3 is currently all still just hardware exploits and soldering.

I dont want to go off topic, but doesnt cobra ode allow nearly all ps3s to play backups now?

Yeah, I think except for a couple of the later Slim models, and I don't think the SuperSlims at all yet. I've thought about about getting an ODE, but damn they're expensive (understandably)
