Shop down because of my disk drive?

This is gonna sound odd, but here it goes. Recently, my parents Wii had finally given up reading discs. Rather than paying money to repair it, they gave it to me to fix. I don't have the money for the new parts, so I just removed the disc entirely. While opening the shop channel to remove the shop account * YES I RIPPED THE OLD WADS* it came up with the same error it would during a disc drive check, which I disabled on Priiloader. Anyone know the issue?

That's weird. I'm totally ignorant if a failed DiskDrive could lock the Shop.
I mean, my DiskDrive has been barely used since 2008 and I never bought Shop titles... except for those old WiiWare demos.

But why worry about it when you can redownload your Shop titles as WAD files and install them with WadManager?

Some internal applications needlessly check for the disc drive.

If you removed the drive entirely they won't start for no good reason.

Keeping the drive board connected should suffice.

Wonderful, because I DEFINITELY kept the drive board............... I'm just gonna save up for a new broken Wii and salvage the drive, use the motherboard for my portable.
