Homebrew [Release] uae3DS (Amiga 500 Emulator for Nintendo 3DS)

If you have the white screen of the kickstart 1.3 with a blue floppy disk picture, it means that you have installed the firmware.

The amiga (500/2000 here) has no operating system in rom, so it asks you to insert a bootable floppy (file ".adf" (amiga disk file))

You can download it here :

In the emulator, "Select" for the menu, "Load Disk Image".
DF0 and DF1 are the two emulated floppy drives, only DF0 is bootable.
Choose "DF0 Image" and select from your SD an "adf" downloaded before.

Finally, "Main Menu" and "Reset Amiga".

The amiga should this time start on your floppy disk (adf).

Yes, I have done exactly that, but still end up on the screen with the insert disk screen.

Tried several different Kickstart 1.3 versions both 256 and 512kb as well as a 2.04 version.
* I've put the kick.rom file in the UAE3ds folder.
*I've chosen a adf file for DF0, for example: Amnios_Disk1.adf (from Archive.org).
* I've returned to the Main Menu and "Reset Amiga.

Kickstart v1.3 r34.5 (1987)(Commodore)(A500-A1000-A2000-CDTV)[o].rom
Kickstart - 315093-02 (USA, Europe) (v1.3 Rev 34.005) (A500, A2000).rom
Kickstart-v2.04-rev37.175-1991-Commodore-A500plus.rom

All renamed to kick.rom
Still no luck.
Guess that's what I'll get for having an Atari STFM when I grew up

If you have the kickstart prompt (blue disk/white background, for the v1.3), don't touch the kickstart anymore, the problem is elsewhere.

Not all Amiga diskettes are bootable, have you tried with other adf?

In the "select disk" menu, your adf appears at the top (DF0:************) ?

Maybe you are banned to have touched a satanic machine in the past, yes...

Thanks for all the help. It seems that a lot of amiga adf files on archive.org are worthless.
Guess this explains why I've had problems before on my retro handhelds (anbernic etc) as well.
Now they start on first attempt.

Yep. But WHDLoad version of Dimo's Quest works fine in "UAE4ALL Switch 2.00" (Nintendo Switch).
So, we NEED a HDD emulation in UAE for 3DS. But not sure, should WHDLoad works here or not.

WHDLOAD will not work with UAE3DS. Badda was working on something : https://github.com/badda71/uae3DSng

I do not know if he has got the time to work on it.

That would be great if we get new emulator with features like more RAM ( 2 MB CHIP 8 MB FAST) and 4 Floppy disks. HDD emulation would be icing on the cake. Fingers crossed for that project. Sending love and support <3.

Didn't think I'd be playing one of my Amiga Favs on a 2ds XL and it playing just like the Amiga did.. I can't wait to go through all my great Amiga games to see what works !! So many thanks for making this come to 3ds..

UAE4ALL is very picky about adf you are using. You may need to test many versions for some games and/or mixing some floppies with other cracking groups. Few games require to load both floppy disks (IIRC lemmings 1 is one of those).

Hey, that's one of my all time favourites too. Great, great game. I remember beating it, but the zx spectrum port, which was quite enjoyable despite technical limitations.

Yeah a true Amiga Classic !! forget how many hours lost to this, And then my mate brought his A500 to mine one day and we linked them through parallel port and our lives felt we progressed to a higher level of being !! We also looked into - if it possible to run a cable from mine to his directly, but that soon stopped when we got a quote for the cable lol!! Great times.. I have a list of games- I'm going to try, but happy to hear of any ones you can think of too ... Many thanks...

Just a quick update - here just a few games I got working fine. Even It came from the desert with 3 disks, just let me swap 1 with 3 and carried on.. Indy 500 had a tiny bit of vector probs,but speedball 2,rocket ranger,pang,escape from planet of robots - all worked great.. I forgot how many Amiga games I loved back in the day.. Really makes me want to pick up one again..
