Is there any way to up the render resolution in Retroarch without using linux/android?

The pcsx rearmed core that I use doesn't seem to allow other resolutions

Nope, not that I know of. If you don't want to go the ubuntu or android route, your best bet is to wait till the duck/swanstation core gets ported to switch retroarch on horizon os, which might take a really long time to happen.

Because there are people that prefer not having to dualboot, don't have extra storage cards/space, or just like Horizon more. All perfectly legitimate.

Anyways, yeah; until Duck/Swanstation gets an NX port through either the original or Libretro cores, OP's SOL.
