This would probably also mean backwards compatibility for all new "Switches", like GCN/Wii/WiiU had BC.

But seriously, it is speculated that Nvidia cancelled their Shield Tablet upgrade as not to compete with the Switch, so it looks like they have faith in the console.

Yep, exactly that. People must not take the whole 2 decades of cooperation at face value. It might mean a lot of different things based on the specifics of their deal.

I think it's a stretch to say anything like "this would probably also mean backwards compatibility". Nintendo will be utilizing NVIDIA CPUs and/or GPUs in hardware they manufacture for the next 20 years... That's about all this means. It's way too soon to make predictions beyond that.
