I tried power cycling, sadly, it didn't fix the issue
Lolololo, can you do the asshole at Game$top? Ask if you can use their dock to check if the switch you bought is broken...and if they say no...attempt to sell your Switch, but ask if they can test it on the dock...then, before it finalizes, "change" your mind.
Personally, I'd keep trying power cycling. I've had it fuck up soooooo many times from not being the e x a c t, precise, step-by-step instruction, I almost went back to Wii U.
I do the: unplug HDMI first, power second; plug power (wait 1 second), plug HDMI (wait one second); powered off Switch to dock; power on Switch while docked and that usually does it. If it really wants to be a beeyatch, I do a TV reboot with it in case the "power state match" doesn't sync.
Other than that, if you don't use N's official power adapter, you might burn chips and shit. I remember people were using 3rd-party dock+adapter and people had some fried Switches.
TL;DR:
Go to Game$top and roll some dice.
Really try power cycling in new ways, including your TV.
You internally burned your switch.
