So yesterday my friend came over to my house, and we plugged in his switch into my dock, the dock was working a few seconds before when I took out my switch, which was running, and after he put in his switch, the dock won't work anymore. all the cables work and were correctly placed, what can I do to fix this?

Something probably damaged or is obscuring the USB-C port inside the dock.
Take a flashlight in there and look for damage/debris.
Also, does the dock light turn on or not?
If it does and there's no video, I suspect HDMI port or cable.

Yes the light works, no the HDMI port/cable isn't the problem, as i tried it with other devices(ps4 and laptop) and it works fine. As for the debris, im trying to find a screwdriver.

I don't think there's any debris, as it was working perfectly fine a few seconds before, and only stopped working after my friend plugged in his switch.

I had a problem like this....basically, if you unplug the power before the HDMI, your dock will bug out.
I'll edit with veedyaaaas.

Check your friend's Switch USB-C port, most likely its damaged and damaged your Dock's.
Again, the dock worked perfectly fine up until the point my friend plugged in his switch, i took out my switch(which was displaying a youtube video) and plugged his in, at which point the dock didn't work with my switch anymore. The AC cable still works, along with the dock's light turning green, however, the dock isn't displaying the switch. The HDMI cable and ports aren't broken, i know as i tested them with other devices afterword's.

again, your friends switchs usb port might have an issue, a broken or bent pin that might have lead to an issue on your dock.
some unlucky discharge frying some tiny component in the docks chip, or if you're lucky, just sending it into some kind of error loop that might be fixed by unplugging it for a while.

these things happen literally from one second to the next.

Please, read again what I wrote, but add "and might have damaged your Dock's USB-C port", to it.

I tried power cycling, sadly, it didn't fix the issue
damn that sucks, I'm thinking something is wrong with your friend's switch that is killing the dock. Could be the usb-c connector like the others are speculating, if that's the case then its possible that it shorted components in the dock. Tell your friend to have their switch checked out.

Lolololo, can you do the asshole at Game$top? Ask if you can use their dock to check if the switch you bought is broken...and if they say no...attempt to sell your Switch, but ask if they can test it on the dock...then, before it finalizes, "change" your mind.

Personally, I'd keep trying power cycling. I've had it fuck up soooooo many times from not being the e x a c t, precise, step-by-step instruction, I almost went back to Wii U.
I do the: unplug HDMI first, power second; plug power (wait 1 second), plug HDMI (wait one second); powered off Switch to dock; power on Switch while docked and that usually does it. If it really wants to be a beeyatch, I do a TV reboot with it in case the "power state match" doesn't sync.

Other than that, if you don't use N's official power adapter, you might burn chips and shit. I remember people were using 3rd-party dock+adapter and people had some fried Switches.

TL;DR:
Go to Game$top and roll some dice.
Really try power cycling in new ways, including your TV.
You internally burned your switch.
