It really does add something to the experience. Like you're literally looking into the world of the game.

The cheaping out on the specs however was crappy. Thing is the n3DS virtually doubled all of the important specs and this gave some boost but nothing like how they'd be at 2x internal res. Wonder why the modders didn't take advantage of this to upres titles?

Fear not, the Chinese manufacturers will no doubt knock out a lookalike at some point. Once they get over their Gameboy obsession that is.

Back on topic:

Imagine a Wii 2 Switcheroo dual screen device in which the tablet has a 3D screen and, in an uncharacteristic display of un-Nintendoness, they release the entire catalogue as VC alongside it.

It really is a shame. Nintendoland was such a great example of how the gamepad could be used, but even Nintendo themselves barely bothered to utilize the gamepad for unique multiplayer experiences apart from that one game. We didn't even get to see the dual gamepad functionality get utilized.
Everybody who owned a Wii U probably wanted to see it succeed. I liked the gamepad and still do, but I might be in the minority there. It was a really comfortable controller, but the added bulk didn't serve much purpose when the extra features of it were barely utilized.

My biggest beef as a loyal Wii U owner was investing in a Switch too, and then having to witness the sheer AUDACITY of Nintendo porting all their old Wii U games to the Switch, instead of giving us NEW games and IPs. Talk about the biggest slap to the face to all us Wii U owners that already bought the games on the other $300 dollar system that never got a single price drop in it's entire lifetime. This is the #1 reason why I'll always pirate Wii U content.

I don't mind that so much. Yeah, I've already played them all, but it takes a matter of weeks to port a game to the Switch so it's not likely it took much development time away from new games, and it's good for people that didn't have a Wii U, which, let's face it, is most people. That said, I'm still mad that they didn't make Mario Kart 10. A game's worth of extra stages as DLC is nice, but they aren't new stages, merely lazy ports, and there are no new characters, vehicles or items. It's the first console that hasn't had its own Mario Kart game since the series was first created.

Wii U and Switch got a different enough architecture that ports actually required several months of work.
