The G6 Lite comes with onboard memory of just 4Gb(512MB or 1/2 GB)! The G6 Lite has such a small memory size I wonder if those should wait for other offerings from M3 or Supercard as they have both confirmed they already have offering coming in the next month of two with memory card support. I mean with my Supercard Mini-SD I have 2GB capacity with my Mini-SD card and with the SD versions you can go as big as the SD is at now, 4GB's I think. I mean Metroid Prime Hunters is 1Gb(128 MB) and Resident Evil was 512 Mb(64 MB). Thats not a lot of MB's for the money at just under a half a gig. With a few big games on the cart you'll have almost no memory for anything else. And newer games are starting to use the 512 Mb(64 MB) cart like MechAssault: Phantom War and The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. I would just suggest waiting, what does everyone else think?

Actually Metroid Prime Hunters was 512Mbit and Resident Evil was 1Gbit, so you got that mixed up.

Personally it's impossible for me to play more than 8 DS games at the one time so I don't see the problem with having 'only' 512MB of space. Are there 20 DS games you'd like to play all in the same day?

If you want the space for movies it's really not that great, get a psp instead. If you want it for music the quality ain't that lovely so buy a mp3 player or psp instead...

I play one game at a time, usually with a shooter or racing game on the side to break up the monotony. I use a 256mbit GBA cart, which usually holds 2-6 games, and I've never thought I needed more space. SO for someone like me, I think the G6 has enough space, too. You said, "With a few big games on the cart you'll have almost no memory for anything else." but I'm wondering what else do you need room for? I don't care about watching movies on my DS, or any other non-game functions. I bought the DS, and my GBA too, for playing games. If I needed an MP3 and movie machine, I'd buy an ipod.

THe G6 may have limited storage compared to what can be done with removeable flash media, but the G6 plays DS games exactly as the commercial media does. That's more important to me than using my DS to hold a few MP3's and vid clips.

I disagree.

While, yes, I obviously only play one game at a time I like having as many games as possible at my disposable. I'm sure I could get used to having a small # of games on me, but I like the space so I don't have to constantly change out my cards all the time.

This factor is obviously important to you, and I'm in a similar boat. I like the idea, but 512mb is too small. Not that's it too small now, but later on down the road it will be. The nice thing about removable memory is that even if the games get bigger, you can always upgrade.

Personally, I would just wait. The worst that could happen is that you decide the g6 lite is for you, and you'll just be able to find it at a better price. If you have a set-up that works .. what's the rush? Plus, I'm pretty spoiled with the great support M3 offers.

I had loads of GBA games on my M3 adapter but in the same respect it wouldn't of affected me too much if I only had a 20MB one as far as that's concerned since I only ever play one GBA game at a time and after I've completed each game I backup the saves and delete it.

Nonetheless, I've got a DS Lite in the post and will be pre-ordering a G6 Lite, I've barely got around to playing any DS games yet (I've not completed any, apart from Nanostray) but I imagine I'll do a similar thing to what I did with the GBA, with one sports or racing game to break up the mix like I did with Mario Power Tennis when I was playing GBA stuff.

more storage is always better
not that I would play everysingle one of them in one day, but let's put it this way
how many times have to wanted to play some old games and just won't bother getting them or not handy
with more storage, I get to access any game I wanted instantly

but having too many games does a negative side, is kinda hard to concentrade on 1 game at a time, since pretty much evenever I get stuck somewhere; I easily gave up and play another game

I'm really looking forward to the g6 lite, 512mb might be somewhat small but it'll get the job done very nicely, 6-12 games is good enought for me (wish I could get a 1gig tho

Looks like I’m one of the few who would have a problem with the
limited size of the G6. Because I don’t play games all day, I dump a
large amount of games on my SD & go threw them when I get a break
in the day. I have about 5 to 10 games I jump threw depending on my
mood. And I don’t understand this mentality of getting separate units
for everything you want to do. How much crap are you going to carry
around! The DS has nice games, good emulators, plays MP3’s just
fine, movies are not the best but there watchable. Even if you have the
money & ability to carry a MP3 player, Movie player, Cell phone & DS.
Why would you? Just leave everything at home & get a laptop.

Personally, I think all you really need is a DS and a PDA.

The DS is a great gaming machine, and the PDA is great at everything else - movies, music, internet.

After I have been spoiled with removal storage, I don't think I could ever go back

the g6's compatibility is worth it alone to me.

i currently have a 1Gbit/128MB g6 and could not be more satisfied with it.

I have more than enough games to play on it (7 NDS and 3 GBA), and honestly have never felt the need to have more than that on the cart at once. In fact, out of those 10 games, I play maybe one or two regularly.

even with only 128 MB of space, I usually have a few MB's left over after a flash.

with the g6lite, you'll have all that great compatibility (pokemon dash doesn't work right, but that's it), and it fits snug with the unit itself

I think the size is just dandy. You simply don't need 4 gigaBYTES worth of space in your NDS for that one time during the 3rd week of the 2nd phase of the blue moon that you decide you want to play an old game for 5 minutes that you forgot about and wanted to go at again.

If you're using your NDS for videos/music, then I truly feel sorry for you, because the experience sucks no matter what kit you use. All the time spent converting could have been spent watching on a better source. As other suggestions say, if you want portable video/audio, there are much better solutions out there that simply don't waste as much of your time.

I highly suspect that for many who "NEED" the massive storage dump are using it for their porn stash. Pretty stealthy unless mom/dad cruise GBA/DS scene websites.

I don't get why not having much space is an issue... DS games aren't very large and on average you'll still be able to fit around 12-15 games onto the cart depnding on size of course.
Also these other flash solutions that will fit flush with the DS lite (or close to heh) will need to use fransflash/micro sd which is expensive, slow (lag in games!) and only available upto 1GB anyways.

At the end of the day we're already getting games for nothing... is that not enough? Why the fuck are people bitching? Maybe we should just be happy there's a good easy solution available and Nintendo hasn't tried to crack down on it all.

I can't see myself watching many videos on a DS other than for kicks (converting's too annoying), but why is it bad for mp3s? Sound quality shitty even with good headphones? Much more convenient I thought to use instead of a mp3 player so you don't have to switch devices/headphones, you can close the DS while you listen to things right?

I really like the G6 Lite and 512MB would be more than enough for games... but I keep thinking if I had 1GB that's an extra 512MB I could fill up with music. I'll wait to see what M3 Lite is like but I'm not too impressed by the sound of micro SD as a media format, based on EZ4L slowdown reports and its price. Hopefully the speed issues are the EZ4L's fault and not the cards', but I can't find many places at all that sell the faster "Ultra" 1GB micro SDs, and ones that do cost around AU$100.

At @ this Christmas, the top games for DS are most likely to be 1Gb and there is every possibilty of 2 Gb titles will be around too.

Will 4 1Gb DS games really be enough ? or 2 2Gb games would be even worse.

the max a ds cart can hold is 1Gb, and there are like...4,5 games that size at the most right now. most games are quite small, just becus they are good, pretty titles doenst mean it is huge. ADV WAR is 256, ANIMAL???????? is also 256, so is mariokart. 4 gb will be enough.

im getting a flashcart to replace my Supercard SD for my Lite, which should i get? M3 mini pro, G6 lite pro, or EZ4 lite TF. ( cant afford the "perfects" )

( i read some where on the forum that you hav to reboot the ds to save, with EZ4 lite...if thats true, i wont get it for sure...that suks..)

Apparently someone on this forum wrote to the G6 makers and they are considering making an 8gb G6 Lite, but wont be out till 3 months later.

I don't mind 512mb will hold about 15 of my NDS Games. Most games I play are 32mb - mario kart, fifa 06 etc.

I don't watch movies or mp3s on my DS either so I've ordered the 512mb version (4GB)

It's up to preference some people want to carry round all their games at the same time but I'm not bothered and I don't want to wait 3 months.

Problem I have with my current 4Gb G6 and my M3 with a 8Gb SD memory is that I only play one game but always fill the carts.....problem is we get patches so much that when a new patch comes out I feel obligated to wipe the card and patch with the newest software. I think I flashed Advance Wars about 38 times before even booting the game just so I could fill my cart up. 3-4 DS games is fine especially since it's plug and play so changing games is a peice of cake.

Many NDS kits save this way. It's not really a big deal, it just means that the next time you power on your NDS, you will be prompted to save the contents from memory onto the cart. You don't have to explicitly reboot your NDS to write the save, it's simply the next time you use it.
