That's just how it works unfortunately. When the error happens, open another application, (album will also work) this result in the intended crash.

I mean, yeah that is a way to get the result of rebooting to payload, by breaking stuff, but it's not the intended effect of the homebrew the forwarder is running. When you run the homebrew from hbmenu it just does a clean reboot to payload, no errors.
Supposedly the nsp forwarder needs permissions set in the npdm or something, I got a crash log from someone else's version yesterday and my summary was Bad Svc, id 0x7f.

Yeah it's not ideal. At least in the next atmosphere update the system restart will instead reboot to payload.
