Is there any advantage to a "never been opened" 360 (other than wear and tear obv.) Specifically, is the process any easier on a console that's never been online/updated.

Depends on your dashboard.

7371 and below is JTAGable.
Every dash is RGHable
Phatties drives can be flashed without to much of a problem.
All drives can be extracted.
Cool, thanks. Anyway of knowing what dash might be on an unopened 360? I only ask because I heard a friend of mine is selling one that he never got around to opening. I haven't seen it, so I don't know if it's a phat or slim; I suppose I could ask him and find out. All I know is that it's bundled with a steering wheel. :/

I have a xenon 360 with a dash below 7371 that has been unused for years, can I jtag it. What is the best solution for me apart from DVD flashing. I don't plan on going online.

I'm not sure if they still sell them as a kit but you could search for the TX NAND-X JTAG kit.

It comes with a NAND flasher and JTAG wires/diodes.
I hope you can solder a bit tho ;p
JTAG is much easier then RGH tho.

As for software, use JRunner.
It'll guide you through everything ;]

I don't dare to say it's not the good one.
But you at least need a NAND-X to dump your consoles NAND so you can order it yes.
Judging from the name, they also include the JTAG wires (including the diodes) needed to JTAG it.

The RGH edition has updated code that also allows you to flash Coolrunner/Xillinx based glitchchips used in RGHing.
You only need the NAND-X and the JTAG wires ;p
I'd say order it.
You got the most recent version on the NAND dumper and you'll have the JTAG wires along with it (if you don't then you'll need 2 diodes and some wire which won't cost more then a quid ;p)

Hello, first thanks for your guide, then I have a doubt.
I bought an Xbox 360S and I want to know if I can flash the DVD drive like the 360 Fat to play backup games without any mod chip.

Thanks

No.
You'll need an unlock switch/Kamikaze template or replacement PCB (with your DVD key obtained via RGH) if you want to play backups.

You can also chose for an Xkey, which reduces things to the possibility of a RGH to obtain the DVD key.
This all depends on your Slims drive.

So the only method that doesn't involve soldering is the Xkey right?

Where can I found the RGH DVD keys?

Thanks
