Every previous firmware release has been installable with no security if you obtain the file.

You just need to hold Ctrl/Option when you hit restore and select the IPSW file you downloaded.

WWDC is in mid-June. In WWDC, Apple is almost certainly going to announce the iPhone 4G/iPod Touch 4G. Then, the iPod Touch 2G will be discontinued.

I think that they're going to put the iPod touch 3G at the price that the 2G is at right now.
