It can be, but nowhere soon.

There was recently update for backgrounds on PC that also removes gray edges completely. I don't know if this will work after downscaling.
And don't expect it it anytime soon, I have other plans first.

I just finished the game thanks to this mod.

I never saw any issue until the final level, one screen was choppy. I have a screenshot of the affect area.

if you do not plan on working on this at all, I would understand as well!
