Debate over eating seal meats was hot in Canada recently, I wonder what tempers think. (Couldn't find one using the search button)
I also added a couple more type of meat for extra fun (on my part anyway).
I've tried beef, bison, lamb, pork, chicken, duck (incl. foie gras), turkey, pigeon, frog, escargot, horse, veal, venison, and I think hare.
I know some of the meats I've eaten may have been treated in a way that can make me a vegan, but so far I'm fine.
Personally, I don't particularly oppose any food eating culture besides cannibalism.
I think seals were first eaten because Eskimos can't find much protein up there. Sooner or later people found that the meat is good and now people eat them as preference. As long as they can be sustained, I think why not. We eat wild animals already anyway.
I don't mind people eating dogs either, they're not eating pet dogs and I'm not the kind of person who opposes eating dogs just because they're more urban-suited than pet cows or pet pigs (like full-sized pigs, not guinea). But I heard Koreans hang the dogs and beat them to death to "tenderize the meat" I'm like WTF they don't have meat tenderizers in Korea? You tenderize the meat AFTER you kill it!
Foie gras... I'm not sure if the ones I had was force-fed or naturally fattened. I had one in November, and duck livers naturally get fattened during Winter and I got a tiny piece. (But trust me, that sized foie gras was enough for two. But it was good, there was no overpowering foul smell or taste like the one I had previously) I heard that the force-feeding procedure is actually not that disturbing to ducks. But still there are "natural" foie gras available.
