Hardware Different versions of the 3DS

Yeah, everyone has been thinking about characteristics of the 3DS and what it could have, and others about how X or Y characteristic is pointless or is nice but will probably never be made. But what if the 3DS had different revisions? Like the Xbox 360 Arcade and Elite revisions. They're essentially the same, but one has more tweaks and nice things. Nintendo wouldn't ever do this, but let's imagine for a moment they would. Which revisions would they have, and what characteristics would each have?

I'll start off with two possible revisions, but add to these or make new ones!

3DS Lite:
1Gb internal storage
Two stereo speakers
VGA camera(s)
Terga 1 processor

3DS Elite:
4Gb internal storage
5 surround speakers plus bass speaker
1 Mp camera(s)
Terga 2 processor (games would expect Terga 1 power to work with all 3DS's, but it could be used for better video playback)
3G support for online gaming

Unrealistic and not likely at all IMO. They would only do cosmetic changes or minor ones at best.

It's IS pretty unlikely though. But with more processing power, the 1Mp camera would be feasible since the reason Nintendo uses VGAs is because more resolution would require a better processor to handle it. And if the Terga rumor is true, there'd be plenty of processing power to spare!

Only difference between Elite and Arcade is storage size. If there are multiple models it would likely just be an increase in internal storage and possibly different colours.

Same way NDS got Virtual Surround Sound! And I got to say it does its job (with first party titles that really make an effort)

xD maybe a headphones + DS speakers combo lol or at least have the support so that it works when you connect it to a surround system. I dunno.

Well they pulled it off in (among others) Metroid Prime Hunters by deforming the sounds al little.
They could do the same on the 3DS.

Wtf you doin' plugging a handheld into a stereo system? Completely removes any reason of having a portable system! Also it would require 5 outputs on the system which would look a bit silly.

If the 3ds or whatever they feel a need to call it, comes out as the same size as the DSi, NO sale.
I won't care much what it can do.

Make it as big as the XL and you MIGHT gain my interest.
But again, it would need massive increase in actual performance to merit a new purchase when the XL should be a safe item to please me for 3-5 years from now.

Even so, I'd prefer 1 or 4 gigabytes, not gigabits.

1. Why the hell would they release a more technologically advanced 3DS at launch? It would be as if Nintendo released the N64 and GameCube at the same time.
2. Why would there be a Lite with 128MB and a Elite with 512MB?

I'm not here to knock this. I know it'll never happen. And thank goodness it won't. I hate the whole "Different Versions" thing. I don't know why, but for some reason I've never really warmed up to the idea.
