Announced earlier this month, the Cyber Heist DLC for the cyberpunk RPG The Ascent launches today. A new trailer was aired for the occasion:

In Cyber Heist, Kira, your former employer, has a new top-secret job, and as a newly independent contractor how could you refuse? Venture outside of your familiar arcology into a brand new arcology owned by the Malhorst-Gelb Group. There’s some new ground-breaking tech ripe for the taking, but you’re not the only one with their sights on the prize.

Cyber Heist is playable once the main campaign has been completed. Having spent some time with it, it really feels like an expansion for those who want more of The Ascent's fast-paced fun set in a cyberpunk world. The gameplay is freshened up with new locations, new weapons and a melee combat. The latter was a feature that I felt lacking in the base game and was positively surprised to see it getting implemented. This feature further expands your possible approaches when tackling the waves of incoming indents. With more offensive maneuvers possible, the amount of fun it brings also increases.

Of course, other features that made the main game attractive are still present in this DLC. In particular, it can be completed in solo or co-op, the latter requiring only the host to have played through the main campaign.
