Gaming Boktai's "Solar Sensor is broken" error

Sorry for bumping an old topic. Thought I'd post the message here rather than making a new thread.
I just bought an original cart of this game from eBay but I'm not detecting any sunlight. I don't get any error messages saying the sensor isnt working and I know the battery's ok cuz the time settings are running fine.
Is there any way to test the sensor in the game or using a homebrew app or something? I really don't know if theres something wrong with the cart or not.

Well, the sensor doesn't detect "light", it detects UV rays. That's why it doesn't work indoors or in the shadow. You should test it on a really sunny day outside (not through the window or something like that). It's almost impossible to play Boktai during winter, so I don't think there's something wrong with your cart. I guess you'll have to wait for some warm and sunny days in spring.

Damn, you're right. Its freezing cold here in the UK right now but I just went outside and managed to catch a bit of light or UV rays that you were talking about.

The biggest flaw in this game is that it has to be played outside in the sun. That's not possible for everyone one to do, not just because they're Vampires themselves but because they may live somewhere where it's always overcast or has overly long nights.

Also the game becomes unplayable when the sensor breaks (very common due to overheating).
