So it all started a few months ago when I was mid Mario Kart Wii race and got a disc error. Thought nothing of it; I took out the disc, turned off the Wii U and turned it back on again. This time however, the Wii U wouldn't read the disc, or any disc for that matter, Wii or Wii U. When I would insert a disc it would make a nasty rattling noise and say "Unable to read disc". I thought about buying a triwing screwdriver to open it up and investigate but I never did.
Few months go by and I decide to have another hack at it, I put in Mario Kart Wii, and it worked? It worked just fine for some reason. Semi-recently though I started getting disc errors again. I would just remove the disc and reinsert it and it would work. At some stage though it stopped working entirely. So I got a disc, taped a soft cloth to it, taped a bit of cardboard to the other end, unplugged my Wii U, inserted the disc and started scrubbing around. Lo and behold, it worked. So I was back to playing Mario Kart Wii.
Then this happened to me today, I put in Mario Kart Wii game disc and it makes a really bad rattling noise and the screen never turned on. I feared the worst. I thought I had bricked my Wii U somehow. Without panicking, I unplugged the console (couldn't turn it off any other way) and turned it back on again. It worked fine(ish? - The resolution didn't fill my TV for some reason). So then I put in Mario Kart Wii and the screen went black. No error message, nothing. Just a rattling noise and a black screen. The Wii U was still on by the way, and if I ejected the disc and reinserted it, it wouldn't even attempt to read it. So then my last idea was to try the whole thing again except in the vWii. It made absolutely no difference. Exact same thing occured.
If anyone can please help me out it would be much appreciated!
