Homebrew WIP Arx Libertatis port - Arx Fatalis for the Switch

To install, unzip the ZIP file from the latest Github release into the /switch/ folder on your SD card, then copy the required data files into /switch/arx/data/.
If you have the Steam version it's enough to copy Graph, misc, data.pak, data2.pak, loc.pak, sfx.pak, speech.pak.
The demo version should also work. Check the link above for what files you need to copy.
Run only through title override or NSP hbmenu!

Controls:

• Stick click: stealth mode
• L, R (hold): spellcasting mode
• ZL: right click (open inventory/cursor mode)
• ZR: left click (attack/interact)
• X: draw weapon
• Y: jump
• B: activate

You can use the touchscreen, the right stick or the gyro (only when docked or playing with detached joycons) to move the cursor while in spellcasting mode.
When using the stick or the gyro hold ZR to draw lines.

Some notes:

• The Switch port preloads all the .pak file contents on startup to reduce stutter, so startup might take a while
• You can rebind the controls in the Options menu.
• There's a separate Switch settings menu for configuring the gyro aiming.
• It's really tricky to actually draw the runes with the gyro or the stick, so this port will take some fine tuning until it's enjoyable in docked mode.
• If the game crashes, check /switch/arx/arx.log for possible causes.
• I haven't tested this port a lot, so please report any issues you encounter.

I quite often forget that this saw source code release, and had not particularly expected to see it for the Switch.


For those new to it online review, has some light spoilers

I don't particularly want to spoil it as it is worth going in cold. It is something of an old school dungeon crawler RPG but coming on the heels of Morrowind. Some nice world building, some interesting systems underpinning it, and actually a story I quite liked as a bit of a twist on the standard chosen one plot. The devs would later go on to make Dishonored as well.

how do you even rebind the controls in Options? can't seem to find it.
without rebinding, i can't seem to precast magic. also, pressing the analog stick doesn't enter stealth mode, i don't see my character crouching.

Hi. Thanks very much for this! Loved the Xbox version back in the day .

I was curious though, is it possible to integrate the Xbox version's improvements (console controls and whatnot) into this? or make a second version based on the Xbox version? because that one was way more comfortable to play on console (control and UI wise) than this one. Thanks for the port again and hope for a reply .

hello im really enjoying Arx libertatis Switch port. but when i try to save the game
i cannot access my keyboard to type up letters
& because i cant type letters, i cant actually save the game?

is their anything i could do, a way to rebind controls
that allows me to type letters and save the game?

if anyone has encountered this problem could they make suggestions what i could do?
id really appreciate any help offered! i really want to play it through to the end!

Wait, you were playing it on Ryujinx? Or is it just to take this screenshot?
Because I really doubt most homebrew would work 100% correctly on emulators.
You might want to just play the Windows version of Arx Libertatis in that case.
