Hi hoping someone can help me out, i have a switch that my kid destroyed the usb port while running with it while it was plugged in, i have replaced the port twice just for good measure but it still will not charge, after reading and watching loads of videos on youtube i have no shorts in the usual places around p13usb, and m92t36. What i have is nothing at all if i use the official charger but with a usb c plugged in to my pc i get 5v to the m92t36 on pin 5 vccin but no voltage on the pin 6 vsvr, i have shorts around max77620a but measure no voltage at all around it, and also shorts around max77621 but again no voltage around the chip in fact i have no 3.3v anywhere on the board. could anyone tell me the best cause of action for me i have fixed loads of ps4s for family and friends but this will be my first switch. Many Thanks

What voltage do you get on the fuse just above the usb port, try both sides with respect to ground, test this with the Nintendo charger plugged in.

Thanks for the reply with the official charger i get nothing at all, i have tried another official charger same result but with a samsung usb lead and my computer i get 5v both sides of the fuse and all the way up to up to the m92t36 but no it has current draw at all. i seem to have no 3v anywhere on the board..

What voltage do you get on the test point near to BQ24193 I've highlighted in the image, test with the battery plugged in but no charger.

Do you get the same battery voltage on the cap I've highlighted in the image, its just above the audio ic next to the 3v3 voltage regulator.
Have you checked the caps around BQ24193 for short's

With the battery disconnected what resistance to ground do you get on the 2 big caps next to the one you just tested

When you plug it in with the usb cable not the charger what voltage do you get on pin 1 of BQ24193

Hi, one side of both has 3 ohms to ground the other side one has 270k going up and the other has 330k going up

i think i may have found the issue i have only one shorted on the cap marked in red on the pic, so i think it may be the Max7762 that is at fault, i removed the cap and it still has the short, do you think this is the culprit?
am i right in thinking the one marked in blue should have continuity

Thanks

I would concentrate more on the charging side of things first as more than likely that's where your issue will be especially as you've replaced the port.
Have you checked you have continuity from the port to the CC pins on M92T36, and that there not shorted
You never said whether you get any voltage on pin 1 of BQ24193 when you have it connected to your pc.

hi, so i managed to get my hands on another board to find that cap is shorted on that board anyway so i decided to change both m92t36 and p13usb and after that it now draws a current just need to reassemble to make sure it is fixed, thanks for the help
