ROM Hack Question ACNH NHSE No changes to my game?

Today, I decided to use NHSE to edit my ACNH save a bit, but the changes never appeared in my game.

I first extracted my save data through JKSV going device saves < acnh < new

Then I used NHSE to edit my save, I changed my name and two of the villagers (When I changed the villagers I never put in the villager files/house files, guessing that was a mistake) (another thing to note is that my passport photo was the one I had a couple of saves ago, I took another one and set it as my passport picture yesterday)

I saved my changes and used JKSV to implement the changes by highlighting the folder and clicking y for restore

Then I went in the game and NONE of the changes were in there

I extracted the save AGAIN using JKSV to try again and the changes were showing up in the save editor! They just didn't show up in the game

I changed my name back, properly put the villager files in, and made more changes over a bunch of tries and NONE of my changes ever showed up in game

I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, I've searched a bunch of tutorials and I've done the exact same thing the tutorials do, does anyone have any idea anything I could have done?? Thank you D: i'm sorry if this is a noob question i'm really trying my best

EDIT: I fixed it, just use sysnand for jksv instead of emunand lol

Are you making sure you're saving NHSE before closing it? Seems silly, but I've done that before.

That's actually a mistake I make a lot, when I was trying to figure out why my changes weren't showing up I made sure that I saved right after every single change, it made absolutely no difference lol

YAY I FIXED IT!! If anyone else was having this problem my fix was to boot into sysnand instead of emunand!!!! The save on was the sysnand!! I'm so stupid omg!!!! lol I thought my switch was just broken

Are you saving, and reinjecting into the correct location? You must be on emunand, to inject into emunand, and sysnand cfw to inject into sysnand.

When I was first reading your post.... I was thinking she is trying to update her sysnand save. have to update save on sysnand.

as for me, I just run CFW all of the time.

Try mobile spawner for pc and/or cellphone, do add stuff real time

whenever i use my switch, i use two separate sd cards; one with atmosphere cfw installed and one clean without anything. when i play games i always just switch to the clean sd card. before, i would always use emunand with the cfw sd card, and that was my problem. the whole emunand is emulated through the sd card, and the device saves aren't stored on there. sysnand was the way to access my acnh saves with JKSV, not emunand!! that was my whole problem.. might be yours too!!

my advice is to follow this video tutorial EXACTLY, making sure you're on sysnand, as that is what worked for me
