When it comes to webcams, the market isn’t lacking in options. To really stand out, these accessories need to offer innovative features like the OBSBOT Tiny’s automatic tracking and/or sell at a competitive price. Germany–based Streaming peripheral manufacturer has been positioning itself as a wallet-friendly company for your streaming needs, and its catalogue includes the £59.99 / 59,90 € Streamplify Cam. Let’s see how compelling of a product it is.
Out of the box, you’ll find the following items:
- Streamplify Cam
- Tripod
- User manual
As for specs details, they can be found below:
The camera itself is rather compact and comes housed in a swivel on top of a mounting clip. This allows you to clip the webcam on top of your laptop screen/monitor and freely adjust its angle based on your needs.
Streamplify also integrated a webcam cover that slides over the lens. For those wary of privacy issues, this will provide some peace of mind as you can just cover the webcam when not in use. I found this mechanism to be also handy to prevent dust from accumulating on the lens.
Going by its affordable mantra, Streamplify also included a tripod mount in the package. This is a very welcome inclusion for those preferring the webcam position to be adjusted beyond the confines of their screens. However, the height of the tripod is not adjustable, which can limit its use.
When it comes to using the Streamplify Cam, it is a plug-and-play affair. No extra software or drivers needed. Just plug the USB cable to a USB port on your computer and it’s ready to go. While the quality won’t blow your socks away with its 2MP resolution (your smartphone might have a better selfie camera), it is likely better than your laptop’s integrated VGA camera.
It delivers 1080p images at 60fps which is more than decent quality for video calls and has an autofocus feature that centres on the streamer’s face/central object. There are also two microphones integrated in the camera, which deliver clear audio to the receiving end; but you should consider a dedicated microphone if you want to get serious with streaming.
While the quality of the videos will also depend on the external lighting, the Streamplify Cam packs a handy automatic light enhancement feature. It adjusts the image brightness and colour to deliver clearer images. While handy, you should still consider an external lighting solution for better video output.

It’s always welcome to find budget options on the market, but the Streamplify Cam’s affordable cost comes at the expense of the build quality. Even if I wouldn’t call it bad, it does have a plastic feel to it. In addition, the USB cable is fixed to the back of the device, which is not good news should it get damaged or just for easy storage.
The Streamplify Cam should be regarded as an entry-level webcam. It doesn’t do anything extraordinary but isn’t lame and has some handy features. It will do just fine for general video calls or if you want to start with streaming, as it won’t break the bank. However, for more professional streams, you might want to invest in a camera with better resolution or fancier features but it will be significantly pricier than the Streamplify Cam.
Verdict
- Decent image output with automatic light enhancement
- Integrated sliding webcam cover
- Included tripod
- Plastic feel of shell
- USB cable is not detachable
- Fixed tripod height
