Phaedrus - The same

A man asked what cause had originated the lesbians and effeminate males. The old man explained: "It was Prometheus again, the creator of us, people of clay, those who, as soon as collide with fate, they fall apart. The parts of the sex, that modesty hides under a robe, Prometheus had molded separately, working on them a whole day, so that he could then adapt them to their bodies, when, suddenly, he was
invited to dinner at Libero's. There, he watered his veins abundantly with nectar and then returned home late with faltering step. At this point, with a sleepy mind and diverted by intoxication, he applied the female sex parts to the male gender and the male members applied them to the females. And so now the pleasure obtains a distorted enjoyment of it."

[Rogavit alter, tribadas et molles mares
Quae ratio procreasset? Exposuit senex:

«Idem Prometheus, auctor vulgi fictilis
Qui simul offendit ad fortunam frangitur,
Naturae partis veste quas celat pudor,
Cum separatim toto finxisset die,
Aptare mox ut posset corporibus suis,
Ad cenam est invitatus subito a Libero.
Ubi irrigatus multo venas nectare
Sero domum est reversus titubanti pede.
Tum semisomno corde et errore ebrio
Applicuit virginale generi masculo
Et masculina membra applicuit feminis.
Ita nunc libido pravo fruitur gaudio».]

You are brave to publish this nowadays. Of all the stuff you have brought to your blog this one is probably the most dangerous.
I'm surprised that even mentioning such a story didn't bring up some "This is *phobic!!" comments.

I have to say that it makes no sense at all. Humans, in fact all life, came to existence completely different and that story surely fails to explain homosexuality (or sexuality at all). I don't find it *phobic, I find it absurd. Assembling people like a puzzle.

@KleinesSinchen , I'll point out that these fables date back 2000 years or more and are obviously naive, fanciful, ironic, ridiculous but sometimes contain a little wisdom (not in this case).

Simply because no one reads them; not even the title....🤣
In any case I only translate the text without commenting, as you have already noticed. 😅

It is pretty obvious that they are old. It is pretty obvious you are just quoting (translating) stuff.
Nevertheless people have been pushed into the *phobic corner for less. No matter if those who do the name calling are unable to distinguish between one's personal opinion and a neutral quote, or if the pull arguments from the void like: "Why did he translate this one? Clearly he must have chosen it on purpose to distribute *phobic ideas indirectly."

I've read too much in this regard to not censor my own thoughts against my will.

I must once again ask you for some patience. My mind is empty right now and I'm unable to put all this in a coherent text – let alone in English.

You might be right with this. Sadly.
