Hello everyone!
This is an English translation patch for Steins;Gate - My Darling's Embrace on the PSP. It is currently version 0.5.
-------------------------------------------------
Update: 1 hour later after release
Turns out the eboot can quite easily be patched. I will do that soon, and release a newer version patch after that.

Steins;Gate: My Darling's Embrace is one of my favorite little games ever. Since there is a way to play Steins;Gate on PSP in English, it would be awesome to have the fun spin-off also playable in English too, right! To have another way to experience this game! This was one of my goals in bringing this patch to you. It could be especially useful to people who only have a PSP or an old android phone to play the S;G games.
And so, despite the limitations of the patch, you can fully experience the game - the story is fully readable! I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do!
Let's get into the known issues you should know about before playing the current version:
Known issues:
-The button prompts for back and confirm are mixed up! When the game says X is Confirm and O is Back, it's the opposite - in actuality, X is Back and O is confirm (the default Japanese layout). They're mixed up because I took the assets from the S;G PSP English patch. I'll redo all of them if I find a way to get the EBOOT fully translated.
-In the end of Kurisu's route, the text glitches for about 6 lines. In the middle of Luka's route, the text glitches twice, first time for 4 lines, second time eating up around 20 lines. I really did try for hours to find a fix for them, but unfortunately I didn't find a feasible way to do so without having to sacrifice other text. Seems like a memory issue with how the text is stored.
-The phone texts. The mails themselves ARE translated, but not the phone system texts themselves. However, since before this, you've very likely played the original Steins;Gate either on PSP or on some other platform, the untranslated phone menu hopefully isn't a big problem to you. If you do know how to hack the EBOOT with variable width strings, please contact me here or on Discord (username Spazzery).
-The System texts. Again, if you've played the PSP version beforehand, you can probably guess what a system message is trying to tell you.
More minor issues:
-The backlog is often messed up (text is scrambled). However, what's neat is you can go back in time in the backlog. So use that feature, as it's exclusive to the PSP.
-Sometimes the text glitches and seemingly gets stuck. You can get unstuck by quickly pressing the start button and then the triangle or R button quickly after that.
-Sometimes rarely used names aren't inside the nametag. Let me know if you find such bugs!
Let's talk about the good things here too:
- The story is fully translated!
- All the images in game are translated!
- The button prompts in menus are translated, as well as other system graphics! (Thank you so much Hoodedtissue for reverse engineering and writing me a tool to unpack/repack the P2T archive, which the other tool failed to do on one specific file)
- The TIPS are translated!
- All the mails are translated!
- All the videos are translated, too!
How to patch the game?
Download the patch zip and have your base ROM ready. The ISO I used to create the patch: Steins_Gate_Hiyoku_Renri_no_Darling_JPN_PSP-PLAYASiA_ENGLISH.iso (I recommend CDromance).
Extract the patch zip file with Winrar or 7zip. Then open xdeltaUI.exe and choose the Apply Patch tab. For Patch, select ``MDE_PSP_English_Patch_v0.5.xdelta`` from the extracted zip file. For Source File, select your base ROM, and finally for Output File, choose a name for the patched ISO. Finally click the "Patch" button and wait for your patched ISO to be generated.
Cool hack to save space: unpack the game files in UMDGEN and then just repack in UMDGEN again. It will repack in a more efficient way, which saves around 90MB for no downsides.
Hi Spike! If you're reading this, I can provide you with the smaller rom for CDromance.
Other notes:
I tested 99% of things with PPSSPP. IF YOU FIND BUGS, PLEASE LET ME KNOW HERE OR IN MY DISCORD SERVER (Link in my profile)
I recommend using this guide for the game: https://www.kirikiribasara.com/2020/12/09/steinsgate-my-darlings-embrace-100-guide/
Special thanks:
-Hoodedtissue, for reverse engineering and writing me a tool for the P2T archive!
-Maki, for the video files. They helped me with the Vita version too, so thank you very much again!
-HazelLoyance for making the original PSP English patch, I was able to reuse some of your assets. I also really appreciated your handy "Used tools" list on your github.
-PPSSPP creators for making the easy to use PSP emulator
After starting work on this on a whim back in August 2022, I'm glad to have finally released it now and can put it behind me. Working on this patch was much more difficult than on the Vita one, for example, there were some very specific tools and settings to repack some CPK files, which was barely an issue for the Vita. Once again, if you would like to help to translate the EBOOT, please let me know!
Thank you for supporting my patches! Enjoy the game!
