I don’t think this was DEI, I think this was censorship to avoid Westerners. A lot of Japanese media gets censored when entering the West. Sometimes to avoid Western media attention and other times to appease Western puritan culture. Still, it’s sadly not a new phenomenon.
I really wish people paid attention before because this has been happening for decades to Japanese media and products.

Stellar Blade is already rated M, above that is AO.

AO to my knowledge would basically ban the game from consoles and even on places like steam restrict visibility.

Even if AO was still treated like M, I wouldn't be surprised to find some moronic article about some dipstick who bought the game for little Timmy and is disgusted by what they saw, with places like Walmart caving in like a deck of cards pulling the game, even if the only response needed was a clown standing in front of the parent pointing to the age rating.

Think about that... SHIFT UP devs make the game full uncensored and build the whole merchandising about this, about the graphics and how thicc Eve is, then Somy came in and censor them, AND not only that but they open up the possibility to regund the game because of false merchandising...

Now hear me out, if people don't refund the game, Sony stick with the money, but if people refund the game, not only SHIFT UP will lose money, but.... maybe... who knows someone might try to buy the studio...

I am just against censorship, period.
