DumpsterU - Wii U Harddrive Dumper
DumpsterU makes it really easy to dump your installed contents with very high speeds.
You can dump your saves, games, updates and DLCs straight from your Wii U-formatted harddrive to your PC.
It will dump decrypted contents that you can use with Cemu or other applications.
You need a OTP and SEEPROM backup from the console the harddrive was formatted with. You can get the backup with Wii U NAND Dumper.

Usage
Select your hardrive from the list and open your otp.bin and seeprom.bin.
A list with all the games installed to that harddrive will open.
Tip: You can press Ctrl + F to search or click on one of the headers to sort the list.
Click on the title you want to dump, select an output folder and press on one of the buttons to dump the contents.

Download
You can download DumpsterU from the releases page.
Currently Windows and Ubuntu builds are available.

FAQ
Where are my Wii VC saves?
They are stored on the NAND and cannot be dumped by this tool.

Why do I need my OTP and SEEPROM?
The contents of the harddrive are encrypted and the OTP and SEEPROM contain keys used for decrypting.

How fast is this?
The 14GB from Breath of the Wild were dumped in 1:40 minutes. This depends on harddrive speed though.

Woah. Does it mean that if I decide to upgrade my HDD to bigger capacity one. I can just dump and copy over to the new HDD? Does this support restoring dump to new HDD?

No, you can only dump contents with that.
You cannot restore anything yet.
It is really useful for Cemu or for backing up saves from a bricked console though.

Uhh you shouldn't need anything else.
Can you try to start it from CMD and send me the console output?

Nice. Thanks you for making all these awesome releases lately. Is it possible to make software that can do that or is it asking too much?

Thank you that is what I wanted.
That is really weird it works on my machine and it works for all beta testers...
Did it ask you for admin privileges?
Do you have any antivirus enabled that might be blocking it?
Do you have another system you could try it with?

What I have tried:

- installed on C: or D: Drive for ALL Users as recommended
- run the Tool of course as Admin
- re-start PC after Installation
- only using Windows Security Center/Anti Virus - all is disabled (Real Time Protection/Manipulation Protection/Folder Protection and so on...)

Try it on another PC.:)

It should ask for admin by default.
Did that admin prompt come up when starting it without admin?

Sorry, I have no idea what is wrong here...
You could try installing the gtk3-runtime-3.24.18-2020-05-19-ts-win64.exe from here.
Make sure to check 'Add to Path'.
This shouldn't be needed though since the gtk binaries are bundled with the installer.

Nice!
However, will the dumps be encrypted for reinstall with WUP Installer later on? Or just the raw stuff for use with Cemu? Because I was interested on making a backup of my current HDD in case it fails, but not for use on PC.

It only dumps them decrypted for cemu use.
You can pack them with NUSPacker, you would need to backup your tickets though.

At least something!
I'll look into that.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

And I also have my ps3

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea ps3 is a beast still to today compared to most "sticks"

If you just want pi for emulation no point when Anbernic releases new shit every two seconds
    +1
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
What's really cool about Pi's tho is you can have multiple SD cards with different OS on each SD card and change from say a gaming machine to a full fledged pc if wanted
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Plus all bios are set up and usually includes at least 128gbs or 64
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Yeah but if your main goal is just to play n64 and GameCube you can save about $50 and have the portability option
    +1
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
True, but on 2 monitors at 4k. Its just want you want really, to each they own.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
For a kids aspect Anbernic would be the better option they'd probably melt over the price on a good 4k display

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
For that texasroo guy, I'd recommend the Spell and speak as his first system.

  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
So they buy a pi5 kit for about $150 and say a 28" 4k display probably looking around $400 total
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They'll be getting in the territory of portable Pcs anyway
    +1
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Again you get what you pay for, its like buying a S series for $300 but its only 1440p native, if you want true 4k, gotta get the X model for $500. But yea you right, when moms buying it anyways, you gotta stay cheap.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They could use HD out on their TV no real need for a monitor these days tbh the purists will disagree
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
I'm kind of phasing out on the need for wanting all these consoles cool to have but they just become dust build ups
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I here ya there, I have too many myself, and have hard time letting them go, since most of mine I've modded at some point. Anymore I just play Switch on the go, seriesx at home.
