Yesterday I was in a video game museum in Germany and it had a Sega Saturn with a spindle of burned CD-R games which you could play with B-) The burned CD-R's where cheap Medion CD's and they played fine including the FMV's (I played Road Rash).
Is the CD drive from a Sega Saturn better then a...
Burned discs that not always boot, I have a couple of newer burners that can make them too :(
For me the NEC ND-3550A works the best, but I use it with cheap media. You probably have more choice because you're using good media.
Multiple here says the Plextor PX-708A is the best one. However...
I didn't know the Windows Firewall can block domains (I use Linux as daily), I'll take a look :) Maybe even the hosts-file can be used for this?
I found this domain list for Windows Update. I hope it's enough...
Some time ago I got two burners from a thrift store (they are rare, most stores just throw away computer parts), they let me toke them for €1,- each because nobody bought them for a long time.
It was a Pioneer DVR-MCC and a Acer CDRW 6x4x32.
The Acer was unfortunately dead, the laser pickup...
You can install a modchip or use a softmod (FMCB, works on most models).
If you're looking for a modchip I think the Modbo chips are the only ones still easily available nowadays. You'll of course need a soldering station to install it:
https://quade.co/ps2-modchip-guide/modbo/
With FMCB you...
How can I disable Windows 10 updates completely? I have a old PC (Phenom X3 with the infamous ASRock AM2NF3-VSTA board and nVidia 7800GT so it can't even install graphics drivers) which I only use for CD/DVD burning using P-ATA drives. So I don't want it to update, it will make it slow and it's...
Bought a cheap hot air soldering station (never used one before, so to learn how to use one):
And some cans of valve lubrication for the car (they are rusty because they are second-hand but still unopened):
I didn't said anything like that :O :(
In short I was only suggesting to update the softmod because it's maybe too old to work with FAT32 otherwise.
And if that doesn't help it probably is easier to format and start fresh with the hard drive. Because it was previously formatted in WBFS...
I was thinking about another thing... maybe the old softmod just cannot use FAT32 for loading?
There's a guide to use ModMii to update those on a easy way. I didn't used it myself because it's only for Windows, but it's worth a try...
What kind of info? If it was previously formatted in WBFS file system, I suppose it only can hold game images. Most of those game images (.wbfs files) can be downloaded quite easily at the right places nowadays. Although it makes a difference when we are talking about 20 or 200 games. If it's...
If the drive only holds the game .wbfs images, why not just start over again? Formatting the drive, put a new version of USB Loader GX on it and transfer a fresh Mario Kart .wbfs to it with Wii Backup Manager?
And this I already said in the other topic:
No, I won't buy it. Somehow I don't like playing modern games too much so it will be a waste of money.
I bought the old Switch at the end of 2023 (second-hand, unpatched RCM model) and I didn't played it much after the first months. Now it's collecting dust for 1 or 2 months already...
The...
The check is mainly a file system check like "chkdsk" according to the guide "finishing touches".
So far I know Wiiware games are .wad files you'll need to install using a WAD manager. Disc-based games mostly are in .wbfs format already, you can use the Wii Backup Manager to transfer them to...
Me in front of a bus with my name on the destination display :D
It's a bus from the local bus museum :) I loaded a updated destination list they supplied to me into their display system. It required a DOS program, downloading device and a laptop with RS-232. I did have the equipment for it...
No, it seems like it's a problem in the Modbo (5.0) modchip. It only happens on the two PS2's with Modbo 5.0. On the others with a Ripper and a original Matrix chip this problem doesn't occur.
So the Tonyhax International boot CD is the only practical solution.
This working small JVC AV-21BT8ENS 21" CRT television :)
I found it 1,5 month ago next to a tree in the rain. At the beginning of the day there was a dumpster truck near it, so I supposed it was going to be destroyed within minutes. But when I came back in the evening it was still there, a...
Maybe the memory card is corrupted?
You can burn a uLaunchELF CD/DVD and prepare a fresh one to try. You should be able to launch OPL from the memory card with the Matrix chip if you set the boot device to DEV1 and put the OPL executable into \BOOT\BOOT.ELF on the memory card using uLaunchELF...
So far I know FMCB first check if the apps/ELF's are in place before showing the menu item, so if they are showed in the menu, the files should be in place.
Does this PS2 have a modchip too? Some versions of FMCB isn't compatible with some modchips. There's a version which says it's for use on consoles with modchips, version 1.965.
What's really cool about Pi's tho is you can have multiple SD cards with different OS on each SD card and change from say a gaming machine to a full fledged pc if wanted
Again you get what you pay for, its like buying a S series for $300 but its only 1440p native, if you want true 4k, gotta get the X model for $500. But yea you right, when moms buying it anyways, you gotta stay cheap.
I here ya there, I have too many myself, and have hard time letting them go, since most of mine I've modded at some point. Anymore I just play Switch on the go, seriesx at home.
I'm designing my own entertainment cabinet for my man cave, to store all my systems, then I'm also designing a power supply/HDMI switcher so I can switch to whichever system I want, and power it also. Already picked up the cabinet board, but tinkering with my drawings before start
But yea, I have frogger arcade cabinet that I gutted and put a Pi4 then Pi5 into, but it never gets played much anymore, should sell it. Even when the kids come over, they don't want to play on it, just the xbox.
