Hacking Homebrew Patching Toadstool Tour PAL with an updated widescreen hack for Devolution

16:9 Aspect Ratio (Widescreen) [Ralf] 042EB2D8 3FE38E39 201D43F0 00000001 042EB2D8 3F9BE76D E2000001 80008000 I want to use Devolution to run this at 576p with full support for both Bluetooth controllers and GBA connectivity, but its own widescreen patch for the game is really janky. I tried to...

    "Dangerous WAD" Folder

Haha, case-in-point on my "ignorant, not stupid" statement. You went and wrote custom code to fix your ignorant screwup. Ah, teenage me modding my Wii for the first time. Specifically going out of my way to spend birthday money on an SD Card (which many years later would break one of the pins on...

Hacking Experimenting with 60hz and PAL Tales of Symphonia

The method that Swiss used to solve this issue might be a useful lead for either Nintendont developers or revising 480p and 576p versions of this 480i code. It's a bit out of my wheelhouse though, I must admit.

Maybe the guy who wrote them is a native German speaker.

Better Stereoscopic 3D Patches/Cheat Codes Releases, development and discussion

Starting from Gen VI, Pokémon games are region-free, with you choosing a language at the start of your file. Even in previous generations, aside from Colosseum, XD, Platinum, and various spin-offs, the "region" was actually a language thing. Aside from Platinum, there's no distinction between NA...

480p bug fix for later Wii revisions?

Straight from the mouth of the legend himself. I thought that the progressive scan on my Wii was a bit fuzzy, but I always chalked it up to my shortsightedness. What classic cackhandedness - rather than fixing the issue, Ninty's developers just... fixed the ability to fix the issue? As an...

    "Dangerous WAD" Folder

As much as laughing at stupid people is fun, people who mess around with this sort of stuff are often ignorant, not stupid. If you call it "dangerous", then ignorant people won't touch it. Only stupid ones will ruin their stuff.

Any way to hack a 1.0U wii?

I thought this guy was specifically trying to keep 1.0. Given that you don't seem to want to do that, then yeah. I recommend a disc update. If your drive is broken and there's no other entrypoint... yeah. Gotta fix it.

    Hacking Nintendont

There's other reasons too, such as compatibility with GBA games (some GBA > GCN linkups are regionlocked), and also owning an original retail copy of a PAL 50hz game. Funnily enough, certain home computer projects such as Sonic 1 Master System on the Commodore 64 showcase how PAL is actually a...

Nintendo takes down the Breath of the Wild randomizer mod from Gamebanana

Japanese ideas of copyright are a lot more stringent than Western ones. Japanese law bans editing your save data, for Christ's sake. On the other hand, I don't really care. Preservation and piracy are the same thing, and this is neither - this is a derivative work, and therefore Fair Dealings...

Hacking Hardware New Nintendo 3DS XL Louvre

Unlike some people here, I mostly don't care what you do with your own stuff. If you want to convert it into a normal devkit, be my guest. It's up to you. I do support the "dump the SD Card and NAND and preserve that shiz" crowd though. The SD Card can be preserved now. It's removable, so you...

So what's the current state of hacking and freeshop?

Hacking Emulation EZ Flash IV Emulation

Flashcarts are their own hardware, and as such emulating them would require... emulating them. Specifically. The kernel is a normal GBA ROM in many ways, though. For those of us with Game Boy Players, Game Boy Interface can also take screenshots, and since it's original hardware, no...

"GBA Link Connection" homebrew libraries now allows sending multiboot ROMs via the GBA's Link Cable or Wireless Adapter

Just the other day I was wondering if there was a GBA homebrew that let you send multiboots (fun fact - the official name is joyboot - or joycarry in Japanese) and now we have libraries for linkups. I find it funny how we understood Gamecube linking first.

Hardware Wireless link cable mod for gba

It's not exclusive to the GBA; a lot of old LAN netcode has extremely low latency tolerance. Just look at how Mario Kart Double Dash handles netplay versus how MKWii does: or the Xbox version of Halo 1 versus the original Halo 2. The games were made with the then-reasonable assumption that all...

Homebrew Is there a way to send multiboots via a flashcart?

Maybe. But my desire was more for a utility with DLDI support that can send arbitrary files. IIRC, Goomba handles its multiboot in a similar way to official games - by embedding the executable within its own ROM.

Homebrew Is there a way to send multiboots via a flashcart?

To clarify, this isn't about official multiboots; those are as simple as with an original cartridge. This is about homebrew ones, and specifically about using a GBA flashcart to host a multiboot that it can send to slaves. I already know about the Gamecube and Wii apps, and also about Game Boy...

Homebrew SCFW: Custom Firmware & Kernel for Supercard

The NES Classic games specifically attempt to save to SRAM, and softlock themselves with an error message if they succeed. Less sophisticated flashcarts need an anti-antipiracy patch.

Homebrew Burn2Slot - Re-programm GBA bootlegs on DS

This was almost three years ago? Damn. I checked around and I really do have a rare chipset here. (An awful pity that I don't have a broadband adapter for the Gamecube to start debugging this) It has bankswitching, but not in any known way - and dumping the rom dumps a Digimon game. I'll look...

Hacking Emulation Homebrew Wimmfi not working usb loader gx

I'm fairly certain that Mario Kart Wii uses a specialist patch that basically allows for the server to hotpatch anti-cheat fixes into the game at runtime. I usually run CTGP when I play MKWii, so I don't know how well USB Loader GX works with it. Just in case, did you try updating the loader?
