Name the Switch successor: what should Nintendo call its new console?

switch2.jpg

Nintendo has officially announced that a successor to the beloved Switch console is on the horizon. As we eagerly anticipate what innovations this new device will bring, there's one fun piece of the puzzle left undecided: its name.

The name of a console is more than just a label; it's the first impression, a brand identity, and often, a crucial element in its success or failure. Think back to the Nintendo Wii, which despite its unusual name, revolutionized gaming with its motion controls and family-friendly appeal. On the flip side, we have the Wii U, whose name caused quite a bit of confusion and didn't resonate as well with the audience.

This is where you come in! Nintendo has always been about innovation and community, and what better way to honor that spirit than by inviting you, the fans, to help name the next generation console? Whether you think it should be something classic like the "Switch 2" or something more creative like "Super Switch Ultra Deluxe" we want to hear your most creative and catchy ideas. Don't hold back—post your naming ideas in the comments below. Feel free to upvote the names you love, and why not add your twist to someone else’s suggestion?

Pretty sure it won't have a relation to the switch, so i'm gonna go with something like Nintendo On-Par

calling the console anything related to switch is like the Wii U, which was confused to be a Wii add-on like the nunchuks for example, and while i dont think people are dumb enough to confuse it, i dont think nintendo wants to risk another Wii U type of accident, so anything but name's that have "switch" on it.

Itch is Japanese for “one”, so it would have to be the.. swni? The swutatsu?
It never occurred to me before, but the reason the Wii successor was called the Wii U and not Wii 2 is because it would be "Wii ni" in Japanese... If you thought the Wii was made fun of, imagine how "Nintendo Weenie" would fare.

SuperSwitch is the best name

Or Switch Advance, which is cool too. But Switch Attach is so bad

SuperSwitch is the best name because it would follow the NES, SNES thing, and they could even call the next one the UltraSwitch (if they really stick to that hybrid thing, who knows)

the name is going to be connected to whatever gimmick it's going to have and we don't know about yet

they won't they have never used 2 in any of their consoles they have always chosen a name. the only time they used a number was for the n64 where the 64 stood for 64bit where they wanted to show off that they were the only 64bit console at the time.
Suddenly Atari "do the math" Jaguar the 64-bir console.
Spoilers ahead:
Not strictly 64-bit, it was more like few internals with lower number of bits and client was suppoed to "sum it up" for 64-bit, so not exactly a lie but not exactly the truth either.
Another fun thing is that Saturn was 32-bit and could eat PS1 and N64 for breakfast.
