If anyone is interested we now have a ZX Spectrum emulator on the Wii! It's a bit wierd as it is an emulator within an emulator but it works!

Put the following bin file in /VBA/ROMS/ and you have the Foon spectrum emulator running Manic Miner and Jet Set Willy. I have tried both versions of the VBA emulator but the first appears to work the best (i.e. not the VBA172 version), it's slightly too fast but it's pretty close.

Run VBA and select the bin file. Press 2 on the Wii controller on the splash screen. Navigate to "Select New Game" and press 2. Select "Manic Mi" and press 2. Press 2 to start game. Plus gets you back to the foon menu. There are some Video options for you to decide how the screen is displayed as the spectrum screen is smaller than the GBA screen. For manic miner, unscalled-scrollable works well as you can scroll the screen using B+Dpad.

To create you own emulator and games, download Foon from:

Run the inject.exe file. Basically you then drag and drop spectrum games into foon. They have to be .z80 format. You can then map the keys for each game by double clicking the game in the foon injector. Then simply create the image. I rename the file with a .bin extension but I dont know if this is necessary.

One final thing is that the rom you have created needs to be padded with zeros to work on VBA. I downloaded gbafix.exe from:

Run this in a dos window and use the command:
    gbafix zxminer.bin -p

This pads the rom with zeroes. Use this rom in VBA.

Thanks to Strags for the wonderful Foon, emu_kidid for the excellent Wii VBA conversion and all the original developers. Your work is so appreciated!
