Is it just me or does it seem like you do more reading when playing Zelda SS vs. actually PLAYING? I mean mother f*ck it's regoddamndiculous how much reading you do in this game. Since there doesn't appear to be a way to skip these long winded, boring speeches from people (other than holding 'A' and speeding up the txt) you're forced to sit there and watch their dumb conversations. I think I've spent 60 minutes playing and 60 minutes reading dialogue. I'm down on the surface and in the process of rescuing these little Kiwi things but can't stand all the f*cking reading and think I'm just gonna stop playing. Would have loved to played it because it's the first Zelda game that sparked my interest since the original Legend of Zelda on the NES but man, I just can't take the non-stop reading.

Very very misleading title. I take you never play OoT, MM, WM, or TP, they have some lengthy conversations. I haven't played this yet so I don't know how long it really is.

hehe. I thought I was just slow (took me about 2 hours to get to the first temple too) , but yeah - loads of text. whereas it doesn't bother me nearly as much as it does you. I'm guessing you either a) hate to read or b) read all the time and thereby want to play video games a read books. I haven't finished a book in over three years so reading during a video game doesn't bother me in the least. I'm just bothered by the constant reminder to down on the d-pad to center the wiimote. I would have preferred a question at the beginning like, "Have you played Wii Sports Resort?" (YES) (NO) and then a supplementary message reminding me of the whole 'down to recenter thing'

What's so bad about reading?.. :\ Are you really that simple-minded?

(+ the conversations in Zelda are usually fun anyways)

he just doesn't like how much dialog there is. I agree with him in that a game gets boring if it starts to feel like you read more than you play. The only exception for me is Final Fantasy 13 which is more of a movie than a game. In the end it just comes down to how much reading is OK with the individual. If dialogs last more than a few seconds, I will start getting really annoyed and even skip em even though I really enjoy games with a deep story....or cod where you just murder everything. :yay:

Maybe you shouldn't be playing a LoZ game, then. I think Modern Warfare 3 would be more your speed.

a lot of reading doesn't bother, it's the fact that it's a lot of STUPID reading that nintendo feeds you very slowly with lot's of pauses between dialogues. it is very annoying. it wouldn't be bad if it just presented the text instead of slowly typing it.

i remember in TP, if you pressed A, the text would show up quickly then you could move on. maybe that was a different game.

You want tons of boring ass reading?
Play Mass Effect 1. Dear GOD. They never shut the fuck up, and it's never interesting. Even when you get to the gameplay, it's boring.

Skyward Sword has a lot of dialogue, yeah. I noticed that. Not bothered by it though, since I actually like them attempting to do a story that isn't just filler. However the tutorial sections were really long winded.
I have a few complaints with the game, having to read isn't one of them. The dialogue thus far has been interesting enough not to annoy me.

I am of the opposite opinion. There was, IMO, never enough dialogue in Zelda. I'm glad they gave it a bit more storyline this time, even if it's still nowhere as much as i'd like.

at least its more convo then in Twilight Princess, in which there was barely any... but ... you often have to read 5 boxes or more and when u talk to them a 2nd time they say the same... they could've split it up into 2 boxes - 3 boxes when u talk a 2nd time... to make it more interesting... i agree that you read too long about 1 thing at 1 character... but the whole game is slower... you are forced to stay longer at enemies, forced to read long convos... forced to use motion controls which makes it slower, especially cuz it doesn't work... yah they did great taking the fun away...

I was expecting someone to make a joke about how they hated the game so much that they set their Wii on fire. Since kindling makes fire, etc.

But I think I do more blankly staring and making mental notes on why Nintendo shouldn't write stories than I do reading. I never enter a Nintendo game expecting a strong story or any story for that matter, and if there is one, I expect it to only be for the purpose of comic relief. Only Nintendo game with a half decent story that comes to mind is Twilight Princess and that's only because of some bonding you do with Midna.

I agree the beginning of the game is a hell full of words. They talk to you as though you're thick and have never played a video game before
But after the first temple, the game starts to gain a quicker pace.
This is how it is in all Zelda games.

The text annoys me, but not because there's too much of it. I can read faster than it scrolls. So I'm constantly waiting for it to put up the next line, and I can't make it go faster.

But if you're just thinking "AHH TOO MANY WORDS I HATE READING" then you should probably go play another game or something. Or read a book.

I think holding A makes the text scroll faster. Unless you're already doing that and you're a fast reader.

I've mastered the art of pressing A enough to make the text scroll fast enough so I can read it but not completely switch to the next segment of dialogue. I am god.

You can't make it go faster like in previous zelda games.

What, yes you can. Hold A. It makes it scroll faster. You can't make the entire text box load but it will go faster.

    That's what I meant.
I remember in majora's mask if you pressed a or b the whole text box would just appear... I miss that
