Does that say 974 times!? O_O At what point do you have to hit him that many times, and what reward comes from it? I couldn't even hit him 100 times. The DS has trouble recognizing between attack movements and walking movements, and it always gets me beaten.

yes that does say 974.

i was wondering if i got something special for 999 times. but i doubt it.

once you get around 300ish i think, he gives you reasonable prizes (ship parts).

the trick is to keep tapping, then you must react fast when he does his attack windup, and move to the side. repeat

Similar thing happened in Wind Waker for me - though that was a bit lower, but a hell of a lot harder. More of a challenge proportionately IMO.

Dirtie! You live! And yeah, that guy was a beast in Wind Waker, I was so pleased when I finally pulled it off.
