Newest huh. I have been playing a bit of audiosurf again so most things that work well there I end up listening to outside that.

Re: black metal. As I have probably said before the only growling I have ever really liked in music was done by Tom Waits but I do like some black metal, the standard for what I consider good in black metal is far higher for me than any other musical genre though and by quite some way. I have not heard any new black metal I liked all that much lately though.

Back on topic.
Kivimetsän Druidi, saw them live back in December and grabbed their CD beforehand (I have yet to find or really go looking for any of the demos they made though) but only really listened to it recently.
I was not expecting to like them and indeed it took a little while to grow on me.

Also Pirate metal from Alestorm, no idea where I found out about them but I have been enjoying it. Then again anyone who does a song with lyrics along the lines of
(Hey Hey)
I want more wenches
(Hey Hey)
More wenches and mead
(Hey Hey)
I want more wenches
Lots of wenches is what I need (x2)

Is OK by me.
This is not that song but

Sublime.
I have always liked them but never really listened to what they did. Grabbed their greatest hits and have been enjoying that.

I've been running more, so, Drum and Bass. Jungle is the best beat for me when I'm pounding ground. Mickey Finn, Aphrodite, Shy FX, High Contrast, AK1200, Dieselboy, and DJ Dara.

OMG, then you most likely only knew "What I got" and some other stuff from the "Sublime" Album before? You poor soul, to see the light so late.

@enarky I was spared such a fate although I admit I had not heard some of the more interesting stuff.

@NeSchn yeah, they had a pretty good stage act as well. I thought it was odd as I am not usually a fan of symphonic metal.

QUOTE(mthrnite @ Jan 26 2009, 08:28 AM) They Might Be Giants' latest album "The Else" which is fully awesome, would be worn out by now if mp3's could wear out.
very nice. I've been listening to that one at work a lot lately. At least I was, before...

I finally tracked down a copy of As Fast As - "Open Letter to the Damned" last week, and haven't stopped listening to it since. Also picked up a copy of Rustic Overtones - "Rooms by the Hour", which is a re-released version of one of their early cd's. Great stuff from a couple bands from Maine.

And for some reason, I don't know why, whenever I'm not in the mood for something specific, if I need to work slow, I put in Ryan Adams - "Easy Tiger", and if I need to work quickly, I put in Silversun Pickups - "Carnavas". Love those two.

Going for the thread resurrection again. I lent my drive full of stuff to a friend and putting discs in a drive seems like a step backwards so I grabbed headers for the first time in a while.

First up:
Tuatha De Danann- Brazilian band specialising in Irish/Celtic folk metal.
Behold the horned king

Next up
Dalriada - Hungarian folk metal.
A Nap és Szél Haza

lol. Every ones listening to metal. At the moment I'm listing to a lot of Ink Spots (a old 40's blues band). I heard them in Fallout and just got addicted. I got a couple of their albums recently so I'm listening to that.
