EDIT: topic continues as "with Class 6, am I doomed with 1GB Kingston?"

is it gonna freeze every 2 minutes if i use a Kingston 1 GB? (it doesnt even mention the class)

you guys seem to see freezing even with a class 4 or 6 cards, so i think i am doomed if i want to use a 1GB kingston.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think the non sdhc microsds are faster than sdhc ones? My 2gb microsd has a read speed of 20MB/s, which I think is faster than SDHC microsds (because doesn't class 6 for example mean read speed of 6MB/s?) You won't be doomed.

EDIT: by the way, that 20MB/s number was from HDTach. Its way slower using cf_bench as a test. I do get random crashes with the official firmware, which is why I almost always use YSMenu which has NEVER crashed on me. Using YSMenu the cf_bench results are about 25% faster than the official firmware.

I got a Kingston 2GB japan and an A class 4 GB class 6. I ran some speed test on them and the kingston did better than the A data.

wow, that really made me have a sigh of relief.

i didnt know sdhc cards would be slower than normal 1gb and 2 gb cards.

    thanks.

Found the test results. Thought you might find them interesting.

    Using HD tach quickbench test

    kingston 2gig
    random access .8ms
    avg read 18.6 MB/s

    a data class 6
    random access 1ms
    avg read 14.3MB/s

You shouldn't generalize. The Speed of SDHC and SD really depends on what brand it is, and where it's made.

But it's true that 1, 2 gig Japanese kingstons are one of the fastest cards available.

but the higher class is always better than a lower class regardless of brand, no? since class = speed.

so a class 4 Kingston "should" be slower than a no-name brand class 6, right.

anyways, im just curious as this is new to me and is quite interesting.
not gonna get a SDHC until my 1GB runs out of space or breaks.

Interesting, so a kingston class4 sdhc made in Japan should be pretty quick right?

One thing I noticed today. I was playing Phoenix Wright and had some slowdown during an evidence video using the class 6 and the scds loader. I changed to dstt with the class 6 and the kingston 2gig with the scds loader it worked just fine that way.

I have tested a bunch of uSDcards with different flashcarts using cf_bench. I added my results here.

It has more to do with the access times than the read/write speed.

My two 2gb kingston japans work excellently with everything I have thrown at them.

They're both genuine. I've seen lots of people buying them, and they've all said it's genuine. There were some cases where they weren't, but DX replaced the fakes with real ones.

I would recommend either Kingston 1/2GB (Japan) or Kingston 4GB (Japan/Taiwan).
