You can now play as Sonic the Hedgehog in Puyo Puyo Tetris 2

Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 just got a new update, bringing all sorts of new content to the game, including the blue blur. SEGA added a Boss Raid mode, new challenges, background tracks, as well as a few new playable characters--Sonic the Hedgehog being one of them. The game's Boss Raid feature lets you team up with up to four other players in co-op in order to take down difficult AI bosses, and each of the new characters added to the roster has their own special abilities in the Skill Battle mode. You can grab the update now, which is available on PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One/Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.

What's even funnier, this 1.2 GB update (on PS4 at least...) did not patch a single bug of the many that have appreared with the game, nor the ones that carry from PPT1. Also netcode still sucks ass and tetris combos are still heavily unbalanced... good thing I dont expect anything good from Sega in PPT at this point

They're two completely different games. Balancing them at all skill levels is practically impossible.
This pretty much. It was demonstrated empirically on top of it, with PPT1. Yet for some reason, they felt like unbalancing it even more in favor of power chains for Puyo (8 chain kills Tetris in PPT1 unless "charged" 4w3r, which no one does cos it can be overriden easily before you get any chance of "charging", On PPT2 Tetris can get killed with either unpowered 6 chain or powered 4 chain) pretty much forcing all Tetris players to do 4w3r to try and at least be able to counter Puyo attacks, otherwise they just have to be extremely lucky with timings and hope Puyo plays bad, which yeah, not really an option.

4 Wide 3 Residue, a stacking strat that has been broken pretty much since the last edition of the Tetris Guidelines came out (in 2009...). Apparently it is too much to change a table of contents, and as such, since 2014, when the strat became widespread into games like Tetris Friends and Tetris Online Poland (Japan online-focused client that got rescued from the depths of "I am no money to pay for server", still active to this day), it's been segregating the modern Tetris community like crazy (even more than Tetris Ultimate being a disaster)

I see, thank you
(And here I was just building stuff to spam Tetris back to back)

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
