Just received from Yfan Lu : "So here's the change in plans: I will no longer use hard gold on the final boards, as that's easily the most expensive element."

No more gold for connectors : is it very important ? I can't figure out...

It gives oxidation resistance (as gold is one of the least reactive metals)
Many devices, chiefly most usb cables, don't use it and still perform decently; plus how much difference it will end up having depends mostly on the environment (humidity, temperature, ...)
The "no hard gold" also suggests a blend instead of fully avoiding it

You could have continued reading for the answer... The only difference is that with hard gold you can insert/remove it like 1M times without any issue of the connector being worn out. With soft gold, it might only last 1k times. As long as you're not removing the adapter (not SD card) a dozen times a day, you should be fine.

How hard would it be to replace the wifi board with the 3g board? Any soldering required? Any guides for it? I have built and taking apart computers. I cant imagine its that different than that.

my ?? area is when you turn it on what it will do other than that...

it basically 2 screws on each side of the vita 2 top near flap, 2 on each side, and 2 on bottom near usb. then u pry it open slowly and watch out for the battery connection and another cable. after it more cable and screw to undo to switch out the board and go backward after you are done. there might be some plastic to break or drimmle some plastic off to fit a 3g board where the wifi was.

Once put together is where I dont know how that will react.

Two days before the end of the campaign, I will make available the canceled stock at a price of $30-40.

What do you think the adapter will cost, when third party producers will sell these?

Or just get a SD2Vita one now. Doesn't require your 3G functionality to be sacrificed.

You'd have to order the board and the microsd slot at least. Why not just buy a SD2VITA premade for a few dollars?
