so i was playing ffiv adv. drinking a cup of clean clear water when...

WHoops

i dropped it in the drink

the power when out immediately and i switched it off ASAP and began dissasembling it

i got about 4 5ths of the screws out because the two on the side w/ the volume buttons were far too small

i bent it open, and blew out the moisture something proper and i'm thinking got the board bone dry

the unit powered on fine and was going well until the sound dropped, the screen glitched and then well, power off again

so i'm thinking oh god, i fried it went to the w.c. and tried to power on when i was done

okay so now it's powering on fine but no sound... so i put my lips on the speaker and pulled out some water
everything else is good (i did get some sound out once, but not anymore)

after reading my nightmare... any tips?, i'm just gonna let it dry out some more and keep whacking the speaker

thanks, i love my micro much

Whatever you do, do not turn it on again!!! Leave it somewhere warm for a few days to properly dry out, or you could wind up shorting something out and causing permenant damage.

That's right!
When anything eletronic is wet (or soaked) DON'T TURN IT ON AGAIN!

Happened a few times with me. Just let it completly dry. Leave it alone and try again.

Turning it on when it still wet you can really "fry it".:-)

If you are lucky, it will be ok.

You could always try the microwave on half power for maybe 45 seconds......

Btw I was only kidding, leave it close to a heat source for a few days. Worked with my cell phone.

thanks for the advice, i should have emphasized more that the only problem is the sound, which happily now is working fully, i completely understand the dangers of powering on wet electronics i've toasted my fair share.

i only turn it on for a couple of seconds everynow and then, i'll wait a while before i start playing it full on again

something like WD-40 works really well for circuit boards and have been wet

apparently alcohol also works too but haven't tried it, and no, dunking it in beer won't help it dry off

Megamaid has gone from suck to blow!

Seriously though I splashed a mobile phone once, total submersion.

I shook it like mad, dried the outside and compartments...then hit it with a hair dryer for like 20min or so...worked fine.

I want a GBM now we can all understand the dangers which are posed by its sexy smallness. All those anti GBM people can say "this would of never happened if you had a SP!@

SylverReZ @ SylverReZ: Also nice. Never really watched Fallout on Prime, but sounds like a good show. +1
