    There is apparently a way to make only part of an image clickable, but how does one do that?

    There's also server-side imagemaps you can do with something like PHP, the entire image will be visible, but you'll be directed to a different URL depending on where you clicked. You still only need an image and a single link, so it's a method some people on forums use to stick like 50 links in their signature with a limited amount of character space.
