Still, it's nice to see a dedicated client for those that don't need multiple chat protocols, like myself; being non-American, I only use Windows Live Messenger. On that note, who actually uses YIM? Is it for Americans?

I believe AIM is in the majority in the US, Yahoo in Europe, and MSN Messenger (which is the same as Windows Live) in the rest of the world. Or something like that.

I don't know anyone who still uses Yahoo Messenger.

Its not the majority anywhere anymore.

Everyone I know that uses Yahoo Messenger as their primary IM service is a weeaboo. Why this is, I have no idea.

That's freaky. After reading that, I realized that out of my 4 friends who I would consider weeaboos, 3 of them use Yahoo IM. Creepy.

Both in R4 and Games and music freeze up on the screenshot above. I can't patch it because it doesn't have a DLDI section. Suggestions?

World used ICQ, but USA used AOL due to the fact is was no.1 dialup and it was bundled.
ICQ died in early 2000s, and most people went to yahoo or MSN

ICQ was great, it had alot of features xfire has, like jioning someones unreal tourament match and such. just people got bored of it.

Yahoo Messenger was popular when everyone used Yahoo Groups, if you wanted to chat to another member all you needed was their yahooID. Yahoo Groups died when separate forums became widespread, and Yahoo Messenger's userbase dwindled with it.

I think it's useful to have accounts with several IM services, especially if you want to keep something like work or an online game separate from allowing conversations with friends, and only want to login to one service at a particular time. And it's nice to see someone still interested in developing internet applications for the DS.
